WindowBlinds 6 specific skins

WindowBlinds 6 specific skins

How to tell what's been optimized

Skins (aka visual styles) designed specifically for WindowBlinds 6 are displayed with a special WindowBlinds 6 icon in the gallery. When a skinner submits a skni, they can now choose 2 new options: Optimized for WindowBlinds 6 and Supports Windows Vista.

As an example, the first WindowBlinds 6 skin from Stardock Design has been uploaded into the gallery and can be found here.

Enjoy!

Still unclear on what constitutes a WB6 optimized skin...(other than having blur specified in the code and WB6 makes that sort of a non-issue)

There are a lot of elements that are new to Vista.  Skinners are able to add those features with SkinStudio 6.

Some of the more obvious new start menu graphics, more toolbar graphics to support the special explorer toolbar icons, etc.

Then the badge should say Vista Optimized shouldn't it? Isn't it time to start listing skins by XP or XP and Vista seeing all skins should work on WB6 and little is really optimized in XP.

Sweet! Looking forward to having filters again!
Where did you see that?

How many of what needs to be skinned to get the badge?  Is it set by the skinner or the moderator?

Is it set by the skinner or the moderator?

Great question, It should be set by moderator leaving no room for leeway. An Itemized "Is this skinned?" list.

For example.. Vienna XP.. what should I do to it to label it as optimized in XP?

The Stardock Design Adamant skin is "Optimized" but I fail to see why.. many items aren't even skinned not only in XP but in Vista as well.

Please don't take this as negativity but surely there should be some documented standard's as to what is optimized and what is not.

I speak not only for myself but for several other skinners on this issue.

It's best to *only* speak for oneself.

Lets just say our sentinments echo universally then

Maybe the wb6 badge should be dropped and just stick to whether its XP or vista compatible or both.

Still no criteria for an 'optimized' WB6 skin?

I suggested grouping a couple of times to no avail. I have seperate sections on Maxstyles. I don;t see how it can hurt. Compared, the OS's skin rather differently they should be categorized as such.
End of quote

Ive just created a wiki on Wetpaint specificly for windowblinds 6. I thought it would be a good idea and im thinking of adding xp and vista subsetions just thought id mention

The feature just isn't in there. A search on those will be added soon. New stuff just takes time sometimes.

Hmmm . . . interesting.  I read that differently . . but I like your interpretation better.

Dang,I'm quoting myself here...wassup Stardock?

WindowBlinds 6 specific skins. How to tell what's been optimized.

C'mon, thats the TITLE of the post...what makes them 'specific'...whats been optimized?

Code for blurring?WB6 will do that without the skin being 'optimized'.
Cant be that nice new start menu animations like in Molten cuz there are 'optimized' skins without that...

Skin features that wont work in WB5?...maybe,but other than that animation I cant think of any.(blurring and trans are WB features, not skin features)

I'm fused.

It's just a badge, whats the big deal? O.o
Clearly Stardock is just trying to promote the use of WB6 features and Vista support. I don't see how thats so hard to figure out, lol?

The big deal is that some skinners might want that badge.  Knowing how to design a skin to get it is critical.

Well its pretty clear what the badge means, take full advantage of WB6

Not to be rude but you dont know what you are talking about and have no place in the conversation.

I fail to see what differenciates a skin from WB 5.5 and 6.0 unless your talking Vista. I have an XP skin ready for primetime but I can't seem to understand the differences either. I believe it to be WB 6 ready.

It was said in a post above, the main feature is bluring.
Any skin can be blurred with WB6.

Let's keep it freindly guys.

The question *is* important to some people and not to others.  If it's not important to someone, they don't need to dismiss it's importance to others.  There's no point.

As an aside to this thread; WC is a pretty cool place  to hang out.  Personal attacks make it less so.  What kind of place do you really want to hang out in?

Thats what NT is referring too...its not at all clear...you didnt know what you were talking about...then you insulted my friend.

The Vista badge is pretty clear...and a good idea if you could see it from the thumbnail page.(or search for them)Personally I dont give a rats ass if a skin is veeesta ready, but I understand the need for the label.

The reason its important to know what constitutes a WB6 ready skin is a lot of users aint too bright...and easily distracted by shiny things.
I can already hear the questions...

will older skins work with WB?
your skin dosnt have that badge...is it gonna work okay?etc...

tell me you havnt seen these kind of questions before and I'll quit asking for clarification.
