Chopping Gameplay + Messed UP Graphics "HELP"

Chopping Gameplay + Messed UP Graphics "HELP"

HELP PLEASE.

Ok ive just brought Galactic Civilations Gold edition in the last few days. Ive allready played Dread Lords with no problems at all.

So i decided to play Dark Avatar, so i started a new game everytime i start a game no matter what graphic settings i set the options to high or low the framerate goes choppy on the main map and it stall's all the time and then after a while the graphics all get messed up and i have to quit the game and restart, just for this to do it again and this usually happens after a few turns.

I dont have a good system however i do have a decent system to play the game without the terrible gameplay issues. I have the lastest nividia drivers 93.71 for my graphics card. I play dread lords and get nothing like this at all. I think it some sort of bug or texture error which slows down the gameplay and makes the graphics go upside down.

My system specs are

Althon XP 1800
1 Gig Ram
Geforce 4 ti 4600 128 meg grapgic card.
Windows XP Professional Edition.

Ive checked my system to make sure everything is set right to play this game but ive ONLY just brought this game for what i cannot play it. Please sort this problem please i managed to get my lass to buy this game for me and if she finds out it does not work right she will kill me.

any update to this? changing the page file size did not help the plethora of video issues and general choppiness of the game, with graphics turned way down.

this game is awesome. the only thing keeping it from being perfect are these bugs i'm experiencing that makes this game unbearable.

I'm going to try to reinstall everything from the beginning.

Ive played the new beta update for Dark Avatar and i still get the same problems, as before just to let you no.

I basically given up on Dark Avatar and im playing Dread Lords with no problems at all, until i get a new computer.

I think its something to do with my graphic card memory i think DA is too much to handle with only 128 meg version.

We'll continue to try to find problem areas so if you could both please keep an eye on the forums for when we release new betas, I'd appreciate the feedback on the performance of each beta build.

cari,

no difference in gameplay.

just to remind you how all my games go (only in DA):

1. things are OK at the beginning of a game. large map, randomness (that's how i like the game)
2. within 4-5 turns, graphics take a nose dive.
3. text labels are hardly readible
4. then.. blam! vector graphic city--tons of triangles fill my screen
5. or a vanishing point where all lines originate from the center of the monitor outwards.
5. nothing is legible, the graphics flicker, and pop.
6. game still functions, so i remember where the quick/save button is, quit, and come back.
7. Rarely do i get in more than 5 rnds before things go bad.

i will continue to test beta releases and look for updates.

thank you.

You may want to turn down the background star density. Thats helped me lag less on Vista. But your playing on XP, and I dont have any issues on my laptop(ran on XP)..
