Support Ticket Unanswered

Submitted Dec 11 2006

On Dec 11 2006 I submitted a support ticket regarding a problem with IconDeveolper...it doesn't recognize .ip packages...go figure!

I have yet to receive any kind of update to this ticket and the only response has been that it was received. It is a Critical problem and was also Escalated in status. So the question begs...how long does someone have to wait before a critical problem is fixed? And if its is recognized as being critical why is it not being fixed?

Yrag, is there a setting in ID to tell it NOT to restore file associations on launch?  Or not to restore that one?
Yeah....Tools/ File Types. Un-check 'Check File Associations on 'startup'.

you snuck #22 in on me

right now, when I click to download an icon package the default is IconPackager

when I opened IDev, my preferences still stay (only .ico is checked)

when I open a folder with icons, group by type, show in groups - the .ico files are listed under 'edit with icondeveloper'

at what point will it change back?

When you check them all. It only changes the 'edit' preference in file types, so it doesn't affect IP. It should work fine (should being the operative word)

so then if I leave .ip and .iptheme unchecked the default to open with when I download should stay at iconpackager, right?

If I understand your question, the answer is no. You can check all four boxes....it doesn't matter. When you download, you must save it (it makes no difference if it says open with ID or IP - as long as it's one of them). Once it's downloaded, when you double click it, it will install via IP. (ID is only listed as an edit tool).

okay - I save them anyway - usually download via leechget due to dialup

just wondering - it would take me a couple of hours to try the open with dialog when downloading via FF so see if it would work.

due to dialup

Are they ever going to move that pole closer?????? Tell them what your job responsibilities are on this site. Maybe they're troll lovers and it'll get them motivated.

Brad...what's happening is when I go to download an .ip package and click on it I'm prompted to install it with IconDeveloper (not sure if thats how it was meant to installed or not)...as I was with the Frois-01.ip...it doesn't recognize the package.

Ah so IconDeveloper took over the .ip extension.

Here's wht you should do:

1) Open IconDeveloper

2) Go to the Tools menu

3) Choose preferences

4) De-delect .ip files

I havne't personally had problems with IconDeveloper opening up .ip files but there's not a very good reason for it to be associating with .ip files in the first place IMO.

Right now, the IconDeveloper lead is working on SkinStudio 5.5 so after that we'll revisit IconDeveloper.

Brad...I think I got it worked out now...I talked with Yrag about it and he made some suggestions that I think fixed it as well. Opened folder options then file types...and seems .ip & .ipthemes were both being opened with IconDeveloper rather than Iconpackager. And usually I would just save any Iconpackages to a folder and open and install it from there by just clicking on it.

But it just seemed strange that IconDeveloper didn't recognize an .ip package since thats what I was being prompted to open it with.

But like I said...the problem seems to be worked out...not sure if its a permanent solution, but I guess we'll see.
