Support Ticket Unanswered

Submitted Dec 11 2006

On Dec 11 2006 I submitted a support ticket regarding a problem with IconDeveolper...it doesn't recognize .ip packages...go figure!

I have yet to receive any kind of update to this ticket and the only response has been that it was received. It is a Critical problem and was also Escalated in status. So the question begs...how long does someone have to wait before a critical problem is fixed? And if its is recognized as being critical why is it not being fixed?

You should be able to track your ticket at http://helpserve.stardock.com
Is it there?  What is it's status?

I've been tracking it ever since it was submitted. The status is that there has been no response to it other than what I mentioned.

Good to know, but not the best result.

You're right, if you've paid for a product, you have a right to have it serviced if not working properly. Unfortunately, we have developed a tendency to believe that everything should happen at a blinding speed, like our systems work, in comparison to the plumber, who works on an emergent basis for an emergency case. I'm not sure how much of an emergency you're in, if you're planning on giving a presentation or producing work and need those icons, then you should ask for and receive appropriate time responsiveness.

December 11, 2006, however, is far too long to wait without any kind of official statement as to status. If it has gone this long, you may want to do some digging around and take the route of breaking out the real paper and taking them to task.

If you anticipate becoming economically damaged in some way, you should probably notify them of that fact.

Good luck.

I figure the timing is due to all the run up to the Vista release. Seems like the only things released since November have been aimed at Vista compatibility. I'd assume now that the Dreams stuff is out and WB5.5 rolls out next week they'll get back to back to all the other products that have been kinda ignored lately.

Just out of curiousity, Web, have you emailed them again?  Brought it up in IRC?  A little reminder in private goes a long way... likely better than a public 'proclamation of inefficiency'.

Yes Cerebro...They have been emailed again...and again...brought it up in IRC as well...but the left hand doesn't seem to know what the right hand is doing...and in fact when I brought it up the last time in IRC....jokes were made about it. And honestly, I'm starting to sense an attitude problem

And I understand that new stuff like Vista is coming out...but you know what...I couldn't care less about Vista...I didn't buy Vista...I bought ObjectDesktop...I would like to see the apps in there working the way I was led to believe they would. Whoever the developer actually is needs to get on the ball and fix it.

As far as the "public proclamation of inefficiency"...which in this case is an understatement...that was a last resort...but you know what...I get a little tired of this being ignored. My money's working just fine isn't it?...no bugs or anything like that?...it spends well...no error codes or reports to generate? I would like to see this working on that same level. And if for whatever reason a company is being inefficient...they need to be called on it...especially when your taking peoples money.

Well, at least you still have a sense of humor....or maybe just I do....

Call me.

Ya got to have a sense of humor Gary...otherwise you'd be sitting in a gun tower plinking people off.

I'd rather not say in here Neil...the next thing ya know I'll get less than no support. Email me at [email protected] if you want.

I have checked & apparently the issue has been pased over to those responsible for ID updates.
Reply #13 Top
Not sure exactly what that means since I thought that was already done...but ok.

.IP files are things you Import.  You open them as web packages. You can't use the open file option.

Select Import Web Package.

I have found that getting naked and covering your body in Vaseline will make the incoming bullets just 'slip and slide' right over you. Also, never trust the negotiator. The last one couldn't even get the toppings right on my pizza.

Brad...what's happening is when I go to download an .ip package and click on it I'm prompted to install it with IconDeveloper (not sure if thats how it was meant to installed or not)...as I was with the Frois-01.ip...it doesn't recognize the package.

using FF

anytime i click 'download' on an icon package the default open with is icondeveloper.
i can use the drop down, choose other and pick iconpackager but on the next download it's back to icondeveloper.

I tried to check to see if it would stay using the 'always use this option' but now I don't see the little open or save box and I can't get it back (not SD's fault, just irritating)

Bichur, in FF's options, you can tell it what to do with certain filetypes.  You can just change the setting back to 'ask me everytime' in there.

Dude.... wow.  Do you seriously have that LOW of a view of Stardock?  That they actually go out of their way to NOT offer support to certain people?

Might want to rethink that... 'cause I, and many others, know that this is NOT the case.  In fact, I've got a bug to go report right now.

Just found it Cerebro, but thanks

WebGizmo - open icon developer, tools, preferences, uncheck .iptheme & .ip, apply then try it - Went and looked on a whim and they were checked I just unchecked them and now the default to open .ip is IconPackager 3.20

let me know

I can hear you scratching your head from here, Troll. As soon as you change it to IP and then open Icondeveloper, it will change your icon manager back to ID .....so either, don't ever open ID (and IP will be your icon mgr) or leave it as ID and IP will still work correctly.
