Suggestions for new forums

It's great.better, what else do we need?

I don't want this to be a break/fix thread.
It's not sanctioned by Wincustomize nor is it on their list of things to do. But maybe we'll have some good suggestions that they will implement.

I'll start:
It would be nice if the navigation at the top of each forum was duplicated at the bottom.
It would be nice to have the current time near where the last reply time is displayed.

Ditto!

I haven't stumbled across a way to edit my original posts in the new setup - no Edit button anywhere. There is an Edit button on my replies, but not on original posts.

I also agree about duplicating the navigation bar at the bottom.

I'd also make Advanced Mode the default for replies. Seems pointless to have two modes, but there's something I'm probably not taking into account.

The Edit shows on your post only-- right after it is posted-- maybe it disappears when it's not possible to edit anymore?

Where is the Edit?

In the upper right of the original post are three buttons. The first one is "Tools" Go Tools | Edit Post and you are good-to-go.
We are now officially off topic. -=sigh=-
Suggestions only please.

deleted my original post as it doesn't recongise any line breaks or formatting using FF1.5.0.4

Liquidguru, go to Advanced Mode, then to the Options tab and select Plain Text Mode. It will properly format then. If you dont want to do that, use HTML in your posts, with br tags etc.

As one of the moderators on this site, I think it might be important for others to see who they can talk to about moderation issues etc. I see that Stardockians have a sort of 'banner' on their posts showing that they work for Stardock, and I would like to have something similar for WinCustomize administrators, wizops and moderators. Perhaps something like the Stardockian one, but with a WinC lizard or something similar?

Anyone else have thoughts on that?

The monkey-lizard would be a good idea

Yes good idea.
The moderators are shown, though, at the bottom of the forums page...in bold.

But it would be good if they were identified in a post they reply to.

The Edit shows on your post only

well maybe that's because you don't want someone else to edit your post and write something nasty as your post. Makes sense to me. It would be very easy to write some rubbish under someone else's post.

Add back the honorifics. See https://forums.wincustomize.com/?forumid=188&aid=122188 for reasonings and commentary.

Change the "error" page when you try to edit a post that has posts after it.
Or
Do not show the edit button for posts you cannot edit

Add "Home" to the Channel section in the upper left corner of the page. All the other navigation is there.
Or
Remove the Channel section

Yes, it would be nice if at the end of the comments you could return to the forum instead of scrolling back to the top and clicking.

Example of a Board Wizop post highlight.

Change the cursor on mouseover avatar image from link indicator to normal cursor (unless there is functionality that should be occuring).

It would probably be neat if it popped up the same thing as clicking on the poster's username. Perhaps thats what its supposed to do? *shrug*

What's in the Tools button is not very intuitive. A small email icon, a pair of glasses and a printer icon would accomplish the same tasks with about the same space and prevent confusion.

Reading through a thread . . getting to the bottom . . . deciding you want to add it to your watch list . . . scrolling up . . . clicking tools . . . clicking Add to watch list is a little cumbersome. How about an icon near where the user is?

Sorry about going "off topic" there, Zubaz. However, breaking out the "Tools" to icons on the bar would be better. I didn't know the Edit function had been incorporated into Tools - it was its own button before.

it would be nice when returning to a thread, to goto the last post you read, rather than the top..
i think removing the Channels section is an excellent idea...maybe replace it with the 'Recent Forum Activity' box?
@CerebroJD..thanks for the suggestion...what fixed it was logging out, exiting FF, then starting FF again

*edit* after editing this reply, all line breaks have disappeared..i've had to manually add the br's and yes, i tried editing it in plain mode

What about putting a quick email link in the menu that pops up when you click on the user name.

It would be nice if the post time said 'minutes ago' instead of current 'local' time. It's really difficult to see how long ago a post was made.
