The database server upgrade is now completed.  The process was pretty smooth and painless so that was a big sigh of relief.  And so far it appears that site is definitely running better with the new DB Server in place.  There is still always room for improvement but this was definitely a big step in the right direction. :D

Let us know how things are running for you.  Does the site feel faster, slower, the same?  We are interested in hearing from you how everything is working.  Also, if you run into any thing we may have broken along the way please let us know that so we can get it fixed asap.

Just an observation,but how long does ones comments stay on line? I posted one yesterday in answer to one of the many posted by Sir starkers--it was around 3.30pm BST.Today I logged on to see if I had had a response from Sir s and it has gone!!!! Now I'll never know how his rose pruning/lawn mowing went

Friday June 9, 12.20 am....sometimes pages take up to a minute or more to load, but not always. Could be site traffic, could also be with my ISP, but it's not constant and nothing to stress about.

Bugger the pruning shears...sick of scratches and dug the bloody thing up...gave it to a neighbour

Didn't get around to the mowing...took ages to dig out the rose bush, then it was too dark, WC was back on line and no hope of it happening.

SOD IT!!! Just occurred to me, now I'll have to BUY her roses on special occasions ....when I'm feeling guilty about something

Well it seems most people are definitely seeing a performance increase so that is definitely good news to celebrate.     But we still see those occasionaly pauses as well.  We are not sure if thats database or code related.  We will continue to look into that as well.

Ditto for me..I couldnt even log in for 3 hours. Endless cursor spinning between 5am and 8 am.

Thanks for your reply Sir s,gave me a good chuckle Well you could always try and avoid the guilt feeling,but that needs way too much effort--I find it easier and quicker to go and buy the old dink some flowers--I'm safe writing what I did, the o/d is out

Speed is good, but it seems that nothing updates..i.e., daily top skins, personal stats, etc.

If a page loads, it's fast enough for my taste, but sometimes more than 30 seconds pass and nothing happens. What happens after that I don't know. I'm not here.

Looks like request time is increasing in many cases on my end.

The pages seem to load quicker than in the past (when they load fast).

I sense the falling back to slow speed loads and errors may be on the horizon if the issue is not discovered.

OK...dumped my broadband and should have dsl in about 5 days. In the meantime I have a dialup connection because versizon screwed up the scheduling. Ok...having said that...everything seems to move ok except just now when replying to a post on one of my docks. After I hit submit it just hung there for awhile. I backed out and went back in to check if it got posted...which it did...but there was no indication of that other than having to back out and go back in to check.

Update : OK..this post worked much better. It submitted as soon as I clicked submit.

Update2: Moving along pretty quick considering I'm on dialup. Great job guys!

This AM even the front page loaded faster than usual , no trouble logging in at all. (but front page hasnt updated for 3 days or more )

Hey T-Man, I have tried a few times to updated my avatar, most times when click update images the page just sits endlessly loading, twice it loaded fine, stated avatar image was updated, the old avatar is still being displayed.
I cleared FF cache and cookies, restart FF, still old avatar. Is no big problem, just reporting it, it can go to bottom of fix list.

Request time very inconsistent this weekend on my end.

Anywhere from 5 - 30 seconds before page aquisition and load begins (sorry for the lack of technical terminology ).

Same here....Loading the forum main page was more than 60seconds...on the 4th attempt....then page opened quickly [progress finally was 'fast'].

This thread opened ok after that, however...
