Sometimes fast sometimes slow here, but hard for me to tell as I was hit by virus, hijacker, and spyware. they say I can't download anymore as they say I have 50megs.
sorry but it's all air now and some the downloads were to replace what I lost several times all despite having all securities. Anyone know who to contact to get restarted
I'm relly buming here, help send replys to [email protected] THANKS FOR YOUR HELP JOHN

Your profile says you've downloaded 100MB...... time to subscibe. You don't get to "restart" simply because you didn't backup.

Is the site faster than, what? The "Invalid Host" pages were lightning fast. I'm still getting server too busy pages, those don't take long to load. But the first page of this thread took 1 minute 45 seconds. Second page wouldn't load after 7 minutes 30 seconds...... took several attempts to get here. I get logged out when I go to My Skins page....... .... I'm going to have to say no....

YES! So glad to have you'all back and running like never before!

BTW, it was money from Galactic Civilizations II that paid for the new servers.

Site is definitely faster today, than it was last night.
Of course..... as soon as I say that, I get the "Server too busy" error....
Well...so much for the speedy night...now its right back to a crawl again.

Well I guess the galCivII is still more important,,,I guess all you skinners should find a new home....Since After all the subscription drives go to pay for more servers to have em taken up by gamers...But hey..thats still the reason I didnot renew my subscription a few months ago when it ran out...Ill keep my Stardock account paid, but Wincustomize can take it somewhere else...If we have to put up with timeouts why donate..after all if you have made so much in sales from that game why bother with skinning anymore..It obviously pays to buy games and you cater to the gamers first....Oh well Guess Ill go for a hike in the real world up a real mountain and enjoy the sights from reality...

Reality check:

1) WC was down a total of 16 hours.

2) GalCiv II sales generate more revenue in a week than WC does in a year from subscriptions. It's GalCiv II revenue that will be supporting WC.

3) You're not even a WC subscriber, Drop. So what do yo have to complain about?

4) If it weren't for the people who subscribed, we wouldn't have this site at all.

16 hrs is a small amount of time to be without if it buys new servers. The only people complaining are the ones who don't subscribe/contribute - fascinating

I mainly use Firefox, and the site is still very slow at times...I have the Fasterfox extension which tells me load times, and it took 38 seconds just for this thread to finally load.

Took me 4 seconds...

Help me --- it is slipping from my hands ... !!!!
It's taken me 8 minutes to get to this post. Server busy errors and timeouts etc - just like old times. If the site was fast, guess I missed it

LOL. As has been pointed out here clearly MANY times.....YOU GET WHAT U PAID FOR!! As a non subcriber to Wincustomise, waiting for 2 to 3 minutes for a page to load, only to get the 'server busy' message doesnt really worry me (there are other pages to browse in the meantime)...Ive come to naturally expect nothing less. Empty promises will probably only really piss the subscribers off, as they forked out the cash for getting the same experience as non-subcsribers.
Since whenever in history has artistic creativity never been forced to bow down to the dollars that fund it? Thats the reality! My advice...dont waste ur money and dont expect anything...that way u wont be dissapointed.

/me wonders then who it was who paid for your 762meg of downloads.....

One way or another everyone pays.  Nothing is entirely 'free'.

Artistic creativity, as you put it is quite 'free'...as free as a bird...as free as you like.  It's the product advertising/distribution/publicity/access/or, in our Inet case...DOWNLOADING bandwidth, etc that costs.

Always has...always will.

The frustrating thing is that if everyone paid his way the world would be a better place, and that's everywhere, not 'just' here at Wincustomize.com....

I too have let my subscription lapse. As soon as we get a house though escrow I will be able to use my credit cards again and will resub. Even if I had a complaint "which I dont" I wouldnt feel it was my right to.. since im currently not a direct supporter financially.

like I said in another thread.. No site will ever be "up" at all times. I have even seen msn's home pages go down on occasion. No site will guarantee to always be up, there will always be "unforseen circumstances, etc" it's a part of net life....so to sit here and gripe and complain is about the dumbest thing ive ever seen..

I will say that the bumps weve been experiencing have been for the better.. WC will benefit from the servers and resources GalCivII has added to SD.. since WC couldnt get enough "NEW" subscribers to help with the cost of new servers, etc. we should be happy were getting any extra stuff at all..

just my 2 cents ..

waited till the weekend to see how that was going to go. WOW, it's like a compleatly new site! glad to see the change!

well done Brad and crew!

I still get the "Server too busy"-Error regularly. Don't know why, even when its not the weekend.

The Discussion panel in SDC has stopped working for me altogether in the last day, I only ever get compilation-errors. See below;

Compiler Error Message: BC30455: Argument not specified for parameter 'AdZone' of 'Public Sub WriteAd(AdZone As String, [UserLevelAccess As SDNetLib.CustomerLevel = CustomerLevel.Subscriber], [AccessLevel As Integer = 6])'.

For the last 3 days all I've been getting when I load up my WC Browser and try to view a thread is this:
