I wish you would redo STARS!
Agreed! That was an excellent game - I spent many many long nights playing it when I should have been sleeping... ~SDC~

Take a look in the GC Mods forum. Also, look for tools like GCWriter. Mods don't require programming skills, because making mods is all about changing the data files and perhaps some graphics to make the mods you want. There's lots of advice and links to tools in the Mods forum. ~SDC~
I have not been able to pass mission 1. It is ridiculous hard.
You aren't kidding. I have yet to win a game...I even went back to Challenging. I did get a good game going just in a regular game, but it crashed and now the save crashes every time I press End Turn. So I'm waiting for the next update. Some folks have said that it's not more difficult (or even easier) than 1.20, but that's sure not true for me. ~SDC~

This is a silly thing, but I'll report it anyway. On the election screen, if you click in one of the graph bars for the political parties and then roll the mouse wheel, the bar moves up and down. The number doesn't change or anything, but the effect is odd. ~SDC~

Nope. You can't set production per planet, only global production. This is a design decision to reduce micromanagement. Personally, I'd prefer a little micromanagement in this case, as it seems a waste to throw production to a planet that I don't want to produce anything on. I build a lot of Constructors just so that military production doesn't go completely to waste. Unfortunately, there's no way to soak up wasted social production. ~SDC~

I was just playing with the map editor...I plopped down a bunch of stars, then went to the planets menu and clicked "Randomize." I saved the map and loaded it into a game. I found three or four yellow stars with planets of no more than 12PQ. Seems odd... ~SDC~

Something I think would be interesting is the option to invade enemy starbases the way you can invade planets. Right now, the only option is to destroy the starbase and then build your own from scratch on the same spot. Being able to invade a key starbase would make it worthwhile...and would make it necessary for the AI to defend its starbases with the hordes of ships they usually produce. ~SDC~

There are a few places where more feedback would be welcome. Metaverse submission is one, and one other I can think of off the top of my head is the Military Swap function...you choose the old and new ships and press apply...and...nothing. A dialog that says "2 Battle Axe production queues updated to Battleships" or something would be nice. Just a thought... ~SDC~
In fact, I've started work on a Java version of MOO1.
That's funny...I've done somewhat the same thing. The game I'm working on isn't so much a version of MOO1, it's more an exercise in taking the best parts of a number of my favorite strategy games and combining them into one game. So I'm picking ideas from MOO1, MOO2, Stars!, GalCiv, CivIII and others, and trying to craft a game that has everything I want. Each of those games had (or has) lots of strong points,
