I'm still having a problem that appeared in 1.1. When I upgrade a ship that I've already designed, I actually lose everything and have to start from scratch. It's as though 'upgrade' means the same as 'new'. Does anyone know if it's a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Is there anywhere that outlines the differences between this software and what's available through Stardock? Advantages/disadvantages etc.
Just an idea for inclusion in future releases - it would be really good if the activation process could identify when proxy authentication is required. Even though I've never had any problems with the e-mail activation process, it still takes between 24 and 48 hours for a response, and this seems like a fairly simple thing to fix.
Nope - no download managers at all. Oh well - maybe it's something to do with all the server issues going on at the moment...
Yep Mr XX. For some reason, IE won't save it properly either. It seems to have maintained a link to the 'problem' and keeps throwing up the error. No problems with the other browsers though.
50Mb limit? I haven't heard of that. In any case, the problem seems to be with Internet Explorer. I've just tried Firefox and Opera, and they both work just fine. It's only IE that refuses to play...
Most often, I simply click on the 'download' button - and when it's finished downloading I get the balloon pop up from WB asking if I want to install the skin. The ones I've been trying are definitely not .zip files. I've even tried to 'Save as' - but the file sizes are only about 150kb - way short of the 1Mb or 2Mb I'm expecting. Fuzzy Logic: thanks for the suggestion. I've checked that, and all is OK as far as that's concerned.
Hi all, I've been trying to install a few WB skins, and whenever I do a D/L I get a message saying that there is no uis data in the file, and asking if I'm sure it's a WB file. Is anyone else having this problem? Any ideas? I've tried some skins at random, and it seems to be happening with all of them.
TerryX: Yep - it's pretty much the same for me as well, but GreenReaper's comments make sense. Mind you, the speed with which pages display was never really such a pain, there are plenty of other sites that are the same or worse. The download speed is a bit of a pain sometimes though (especially for Stardock Central), but I haven't tried that yet.
I hope you found someone to kiss Reppiks!
Everyone must still be out partying!
Well Reppiks, it's quite dark, very noisy, extremely hot, everyone is kissing each other, and they all seem very happy. Maybe we should have New Year every day - all our problems would be over!
Happy New Year everyone! Yes, it's already 2006 in Oz! Don't worry, next year is turning out just fine so far...
Ah! That's why I like Agnitum Pro - it asks you nicely about things like that...
Adventurous? Now you have me curious! Another thought - it 'may' be something to do with the fact you're using the beta. OK - I'm clutching at straws here, but all the new stuff like authentication may be what's required to get all of this working properly. Does anyone know if there's a time limit on the beta versions? Silent_mannam, I'd strongly
What's the actual widget you're using?
You might be behind a firewall or proxy server that requires authentication. Do you need to enter a uderID and password to access the web? If so, then very few of the weather widgets will work. It's a pity, because I gather it's fairly easy to write code to do this.
I've just done my usual exercise of checking for updates using Stardock Central, and I found that nothing at all is listed under the Object Desktop tab. The others all seem fine (listing software I've purchased and what demos are available) - but not a cracker for OD. Is anyone else having this problem?
Woo hoo! I'm just in the middle of updating it via Stardock Central. One thing I just noticed, though - Stardock Central is really chewing up the CPU. It's been running at 100% since I started, and it's only downloading the update. Any ideas on that?
Isn't the "D" the new dual processor chip?
Yep - it's been out for ages in Oz. Mind you, we're very often used as the ideal 'closed' test market - and where I am (the most remote capital city in the world: Perth) it can be even worse!
I actually thought the origin of the World Series was that it was started by a newspaper called The World or News of the World, or something like that. Hence, the series is named after the paper who started it all, rather than any claim that there isn't any world outside the USA. Am I right? Does anyone know for sure?
So... How do you get promoted?
I think it might be a problem with the weather server. I've just added a weather monitor to ObjectDock and it isn't picking anything up. The one with Natural Desktop works just fine, but that uses another weather server. Perhaps we just need to wait until Monday morning when they bounce the servers...
Do you have to use a proxy server to gain access to the internet? If you need to supply proxy authentication, very few widgets support this. I believe that they need to use ActiveX controls to cover all possibilities for getting net access, but unfortunately not too many people do this.
