Businesses are going to be hard-pressed to upgrade all their equipment and software to accomodate a 64b-only OS. I don't see it happening for a long, long time. There is zero incentive for me to abandon what not only works, but is necessary for critical business functions. The app vendors are going to expect big bucks for upgrades that I can't afford & won't buy.
Did you know that all hardware manufatured in the last three years supports 64-bit? Why would us

Did this resolve your issue? Are you on 64-bit?
Where did you reinstall from? Did you reinstall from your local installer or did you pull down the full installer from here? If you didn't please download the full installer from here: http://www.impulsedriven.com/about.asp Thanks!
This just started happening: Please ensure the Background Intelligent Transfer Service and the COM+ Event System service are enabled on your machine, and restart Impulse. Then I go to services.msc and look and they are all on automatic. What's up?
We have removed BITS from the latest version of Impulse some time ago. Did you just start getting this in the latest update?
All, The ATI drivers that support AGP 8x for Deskscapes are available now. http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx Let us know how they work for your system! Enjoy!
I have a question for the wise people here. Which of these would run better with Deskscapes on a Vista rig? The Nvidia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 128MB , PCI,sm4.0 that came with my new PC or nvidia GeForce 5200 agp 256MB
I am sorry to say that you will not be happy with the performance of Deskscapes with either of those video cards. The GeForce 5200 (in my experience) is not AGP8x which is required. PCI (not to be confused with PCIe a.k.a. P
I must say I am becoming frustrated with the lack of response. I have tried disabling firewalls, antivirus software, even reloading Impulse. Still the same message. I can't think of any reason why this is an issue. PLEASE HELP!
rmkiefer07 , If you are not getting a response in the forums, it may be
No animation though... Which means Stardock straight out lies on the bootskin product screenshots. That's not good PR guys...
We thought it would support animation, we are still working on supporting it.
ere has been another release since my last post, current version is 1.01.[b].022 which doesnt ask for registration. There is no animation on the bootscreen (using Vista) and the skin only appears for around 5 seconds, there is a period before that of blackness for around 10 seconds and afterwards of around 15 seconds before the login prompt appears. Not great but definitely a step in the right direction.
From your description it sounds like it is working correctly.
release driver(s) sometime in Decemeber of 2009. Stardock will post a link to the driver on this page once the update(s) are available. Is this date accurate? This thread would lead one to believe it to be released this December. 2008
You are right, this should read December of 2008. I updated the page.
What codecs do I need? Where do I get them? The Dynamic dreams work fine, the others tell me I need a codec. HELP!!!!
Please see this page for answers to your codec question.
It was mentioned earlier in another comment that you were getting direct support for ATI AGP cards in XP. Are you doing the same with nVidida AGP in XP?
Good question! We have observed adequate performance with NVIDIA out of the gate, but are still asking them to tune their drivers. Stay tuned.
Desktop Collage dream, which has been sort of updated now, but fails in most areas, including stopping working after 10mins
This has been fixed now. Please redownload from WinCustomize.
So no word on when those of us who do not live in the centre of the universe called the us, are going to be able to use Bootskin? Mind you what can you expect when we have been waiting 18mths plus for a fix for an purchased app. that has yet to materialise, why do we even bother giving you our money.
What fix are you referring to?
And on a sidenote, why is the icon for email the same as the one for the controlpanel in the aero midnight iconset? Doesn't really make sense.
We know about this and will update it in the future.
ohh i see now blahhh that sucks thanks anyways i was really hoping it was going to be a free version too
There will be a Bootskin (non-Pro, i.e. Free version) out in the near future. Currently it is available to our Object Desktop customers.
So any news as to when Bootskin will work for those who dont live in usa
We are working on this today and will hopefully have a fix soon.
DX9 is installed, and I have a number of codecs installed using that Decoder Checkup Utility. My perfered codec is the Intervideo Video Decoder. After selecting that and restarting my PC, still nothing. Is there anything else I can try? Thank you for the help!
La Forge, Please try selecting the Microsoft MPEG Decoder instead of your Intervideo.
I just went to the Explore tab in the latest Impulse beta and selected the Free programs. There lies LogonStudio Vista. I hit the "Add to account" button and it asked for my e-mail address. Then I hit the "Register" button. The response was a screen informing me that "The product you are requesting is not available for free registration." Something seems amiss. Magus
We will look into this today.
