The title says it all. the effort that has to go into writing a good blog entry is large, the probably return on investment is very small. After all with millions of blogs, who really cares about this one even if there was any worthwhile content in it? or any dependable output even. Nothing here, nothing to look at folks. Move along. </fo

Good hair, humor from candidates: yes, that can't be allowed. I've not heard The Johns or the Mrs Johns up close & personal, and it pleases me to hear that they can work a crowd. Thanks. I've heard them speak via the TV. I've heard them give specific methodologies. I've heard the Bush Bunch speak via the TV. It apparently pleases half of American voters that they take a stand and stick to it. It doesn't seem to matter that the Bush Bunch r

To Rumsfelt the situation, Is the United States Being Shoved Down The Drain? Of course it is, that's obvious. Is It Being Done Deliberately? Well sure, why would anybody accidentally go out and destroy the greatest societal organism the world's ever seen? Do the Republicans want to finish the job? Absolutely: God wants it done. Does God speak directly to Bush? Well su

Why is it that it takes "Comedian" Al Franken & a passel of elitist students to produce a carefully documented chronicle of George W. Bush's skullduggery? Why does the "Fourth Estate" have to be represented by the Enquirer, the only rag ballsy enough to rat out Rush "Ditto Machine" Limbaugh? Are We The People going to let George W. get away with pointing his finger at the intelligence community when it's already commong knowledge that he used info that he had been told was at best unreliable? I drive an old BroncoII that's squashed on one side from where my kid laid it over in a snowbank and never fixed it. That's OK but the engine doesn't run all that well any more, at least not until it's warmed up good, and it doesn't warm up very fast up here in the great white north. I'd buy a new(er) vehicle but hey why bother with that crap until this one's really really dead? I bought a USB keyboard today to plug into my laptop. I like the computer but it gets hot on my lap plus I wo

For the heck of it, note that since the Reaganomicists claim voodoo economics doesn't really kick in until a Clinton gets into office, and since there is zero proof either that Reagan was responsible for the Clinton good times or that Clinton was responsible for the Clinton good times, let's go back to who's really responsible: the Russians, whose diabolical plan to bankrupt the fledgling United States by taking good American money for the worthless No

Good, you own a piece of land it should be yours. Well, there's the rent you pay the government for the privilege of owning the land (property tax), but other than that it should be yours. And then there's the notion that what you do might bring down the neighbor's property value. So other than you can't bring down the $$ value of other people's land, and you have to pay taxes, your land should be yours. You might add other things that people value, such as sunlight (don't bui

So, some goofs in government figure they can avoid destroying our economy by withholding information. I think that's an interesting theory, and you may have part of the reason. However, I think if that's it, there just ain't no way it's going to work. BTW, I enjoyed reading "tons of people." Thanks.

A slaughtered cow with BSE (Mad Cow Disease) was discovered in Washington. Some of it came into Montana. The USDA says the list of distributors is proprietary information only being shared with government officials. Montana State government officials say they have received no information. There's a story at http://www.missoulian.com/articles/2004/01/01/news/local/znews02.txt. Can anybody think of a good reason why the USDA wouldn't want consumers to know where possibly BSE-infected bee

Nah, it's not the "fascist US government." It's the "neighbors." It's "You." "You" is sometimes the owner who wants to do whatever they want, and "You" is other times the neighbor who doesn't want to live next to a brand new housing development. Or a brand new hog confinement. So what happens is "You" makes rules that govern how land can be used, and then "You" wants to use your land just like the rules say you can, but "You" still don't like the change or the new stuff or the ad

GCJ, I'll be happy when everybody else is happy. You absolutely do indeed get a gold star, if that makes you happy. I don't know that people are too materialistic. Or that they're not. What I know is that people look around and see that what everybody else does affects eveybody including them. So people want other people to act in a way that benefits (or is perceived to benefit) themselves. It's the reversed/inverted Golden Rule. But that's all subjective moralistic crap (see my first po

Chia Inc., I deal with factions. Everybody mixes idealism and social conscience with make-a-buck. I want a way to accommodate everybody; after all, everybody is part of the system, owes something to it, and is owed something by it. All I want to know is, "what?" Every answer counts. That's the point. As for saving the rain forest, I've got people after me to do that, too; i.e., Stop Global Warming by Reducing Greenhouse Gas Production. I'd welcome an answer on that one, too.

When you're thinking about nothing at all, lots of crap floats into your head. I live in a small town with 60,000 other people. None of us wants to watch other people starve to death. None of us wants people to have to live under bridges or in cardboard boxes. Some of us think we should all take care of each other. Some of us think we should all take care of ourselves. This is a rant about land use. All of us live where there are rules about land use. Ther

In the old days if you wanted to ramble you could buy yourself a Rambler. These days you have to get a Focus or a Hummer or maybe a Mini. You can't ramble nearly as well in one of those. People who are getting ready for Christmas are the ones who understand its true meaning. The meaning is, you have to get ready, and if you don't you'll be there at the last minute taking the dregs, the leftovers, the scum of the scum, and it's going to serve you right and you know it so you won't even compl

Dean quoted as saying if he'd been Pres Saddam would still be in power. That provoked an uproar. Why? It's generally accepted as the truth about Dean. There's all the international law stuff that hasn't been brought up lately, incidentally. When Saddam is tried and his lawyers bring up the simple fact that the United States of America had no legal basis for invading Iraq, where is that going to leave Saddam? And for that matter, where will it leave Bush? Will Saddam countersue to get his country

So. Somebody ratted out Saddam. Somebody's going to want 25 million. Bush calls it a strike agains terrorism. The Demo candidates simper. You'd think somebody would mention occasionally that Iraq didn't attack the US, that Saddam has no connection to that other guy, remember, the tall skinny rich guy from al Quaida, what was his name again?

It's December 12th of 2003 and the Montana Governor's Race is well underway with a single Democrat to date. Schweitzer has a Plan to Save Montana, apparently from Itself. It seems he's discovered the Coal Trust. Last Legislative Session the Democrats barely saved the Coal Trust from the biennial onslaught of Republicans who want to revert to their original Big Sky Dividend proposal: spend it today and to Hell with tomorrow. It's the national Republican agenda, after all. And now t

If you're seeing this, then it's somehow gotten away from me. It's a complicated world. The only place where it's black and white is right outside my window, where the world is shadow and snow. But that's just veneer. I am 1 six-billionth of the earth's human population. Why do I feel like I'm bigger than that? On to the questions, for instance: If Iraq was invaded just for the oil, and if Haliburton is just there to suck American money through Iraq & back to Texas: isn'
