Upon upgrading to WB6, which went smoothly, I was keen to acquire some skins to take advantage of the "new" features. My normal mode is to download via WC Browser, but it didn't want to play ball with "Adamant": all I was left with was a classic effect. Going directly to the Gallery and using the download button works fine with WB picking up the fact that a new skin is available. Do I now have to abandon WC Browser?
You have to feel sorry for the Aussies; they were so tired from talking about the English team and how they were going to trash them that they had no energy left for the game! Their front row was smashed.
Does the same advice apply to WB4?
As I write, it is showing up on SDC. Two questions: 1. I have stuck with WB4. Do I have to uninstall this before installing WB6? 2. Will it pick up previous skins, including ones purchased from Stardock, or will I have to start from scratch? Many thanks for assistance with this.
My experimental solution when dealing with IconX problems of late(there have been a few with strange noises and references to dwwin.exe)is to load DTX through smartsetup and insert a shortcut to IconX in the startup folder. I have no experience of Rightclick, but I must admit the partial separation of DTX and IconX with the disappearance of the tick box when both are loaded is awkward for some of us.

By my arithmetic, a discount of $8.95 means I can get it for $1!! A great deal, but do I have to have WB5 as I have stuck with 4.6 to enable compatability with my favourite suites.
In the same way that I have avoided loading WB5 because of the skins available for WB4.6, I have stuck with Media Player 9. Yesterday, I loaded Object Bar 2 and everything looked nice until I pushed the button to pay some music! After OB2 had finished trying to load files etc as it seems to assume MP 10, System restore wouldn't work, MP 9 certainly wouldn't work - "an internal error" and despite restoring a backup with Norton Ghost, things are not quite right. I can't access the web interface
It appears that somewhere along the line, your keyboard settings have been set to those used in the UK. Should be easy to fix in the Language Bar or via the Control Panel.
I have to say WB5 lasted about 30 mins on my machine. I couldn't get any of my favourite skins to load, so I went back to 4.6 and then my problems started. Media player wouldn't run, nor could I get the machine to "shut down". Thank goodness for a recent backup with Ghost. I may well have done something wrong at any stage, but I think that I will leave well alone for a little while.
It was available in the UK earlier in the day, but I haven't upgraded yet as it asked me to uninstall WB4. Does this mean that I will lose all previous skins? I am rather attached to my current crop and would be reluctant to part with them or amI being paranoid? Could someone advise me!
I have had this problems also, with icons not appearing until I logout and log back in. I have deliberately kept away from any beta, but the problem is there. It seems to be centred around MCP SmartStartup and the only way I can avoid this happening is to go to SD Central, Tools>Settings>General and untick the fifth box "Enable MCP SmartStartup". Thank you for that. I can now uninstall SDCentral, but upon reinstalling I seem to be left with a variation of my original problem, namely all icons in the tray do not load up, but if I logout and login again there they all are. Something is upsetting them, but I would welcome help on yhis matter.
I have had to rebuild my system recently and I believe that SDcentral has been corrupted during installation. Specifically, SDTray & IconX load under Smart Startup, but do not appear in the tray. Not for me either. I have resorted to just loading IconX with widgets and leaving DTX on the hard drive.
Tied in with this thread is the following scenario. DTX loads at the beginning & later disappears from the tray to be followed by IX and then DTX - most strange!
Yesterday, I posted a comment on the Support Forum along these lines, which seems to have been removed. My query was quite simply : under the new regime is it possible to have IconX load with SmartStartup rather than put it in my start up group, which I have done? It does work, but seems to be slower to implement.
I hope that this is the correct place to raise the following. Now that IconX has separated from DesktopX, is there any way to get IconX to load via MCP SmartStartup rather than put it in the Startup Group as I have done at present?
Joy of joys! An uninstall, a download of 2.05 Build 83 and an update to Build 94 eventually seems to have restored normallity.
Daiwa- Many thanks, but all necessary boxes are checked and I am at a loss to know what to do next, except repeat the last exercise of reloading a Ghost image and prevent SDC updating.
Sorry, brain not in gear at the time. I was seeking a way of stopping it looking for updates before facing the the dichotomy of "Yes" or "No". I think I have now found it under Tools/Settings.
Not for me! Smart setup does not work, with consequent failure to load Component Tray and DesktopX. I think I will reload a working configuration, prevent access to the internet until I can stop SDCentral updating itself. I like my Icon X and widgets and it is becoming a pain having to load them manually each time.
We are now up to Build 93 with still the same problems. I even rolled back to a configuration that I knew worked using Norton Ghost and everything was fine until entering SDCentral. Is there any way to prevent it from updating itself?
I have a similar problem which only started on Thursday when SDcentral updated itself to Build 90. Upon re-boot, 1) Component tray would not load automatically, even though the box was ticked. 2) DesktopX Builder have to be started manually and I seem to have DesktopX and the Pro version showing under OD Applications. 3) Smart Startup does not run.
