When I need ships, but can't be bothered organising their movements on a one by one basis as they are built, I set a waypoint and tell all my production planets to send ships to it as soon as they are completed. Extremely useful if you have a widespread empire on one of the larger maps.

I've found the single most useful function in boosting production on a planet to planet basis is the focus button. Very handy little button in the planet screen next to the production displays. It's saved my skin plenty of times. I find it especially useful for boosting my military production as I usually only have one or two planets dedicated to production. You have to keep an eye on your spending however (which is why it is bes

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you thank you for not using copy protection Brad. It's so refreshing not having to worry about the inevitable build up of scrapes and scratches on a well used disk rendering the game unuseable. Heck, I downloaded straight from Stardock, the box arrived last week, but I've not even removed the seal from the cd case. Unfortunately, I bought X3 without realising that it used Starforce (yeah, I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to DRMs). I'

The AI on my games with bright opponents have been fine with me. With the speed issue, it depends on the specific AI's tactics for the game. My current game has the Arceans attacking me with slow, heavily armed ships. Conversely, the Altarians have faster ships with slightly less weaponry. Even with that though, the Arceans know where to put their engines. They have troop transports that can invade my planets on the turn after they enter my sensor range. Not only that, but

Man, those ships blow all of my designs out of the water. I can't bulk up my ships like you do, I'm obviously missing something. By the way, anyone else think that the redemption class ship vaguely resembles the Orion class destroyer in Freespace?

I love the random events. As for the precurser ships? If I'm at war, they sit in orbit in one of my border worlds. If I'm at peace, I decommission them. They're not fast enough for me, all but my earliest attack ships have to have a minimum movement rating of 4-5. My main problem with this particular event was that it brought such a drastic and game changing event to such a vast area. There was also the fact that there was no competition for these new planets. <img src="h

I was playing on a large map against all opponents at a normal difficulty level. I happened to be doing really well for myself and had just forced the Iconian refuge into giving me nearly all of their techs in exchange for peace (poor souls thought I'd be a push over when they declared war on me). Then they discover an ancient artifact on one of their planets bordering my space. This artifact raised all lass 0 planets within 2 sectors of that world to class 12s. At first, I

The Ctrl-P key adds +1 to planet class in name only. It doesn't give you any extra tiles to work with. I tried it both on worlds that I had already colonised, and on worlds that I colonised after using the cheat.

Err... I'm not playing it because according to Stardock central, the game files haven't been updated yet.... I'm assuming I'm the only one with this problem? *Edit* Sigh.... The very second I hit the submit link, I got a pop up from Stardock informing me that the files are ready for download.

Hmm, played GC1 quite a bit, I was a tech fiend. I'd have 50% of my spending set to research. And with a 40% bonus to research production, I could fairly shoot up the tech tree. Race: Terran (Tech party) Galaxy size: Large Opponents: All Habitable planets: Common Clusters: Tight Difficulty: Beginner Hey, a guys gotta start somehere. Besides, I'm not too sure what the general difficulty rating will be when I set all races to sub-normal. In GC1, the g

Ugh, just found a glaring typo in my post. Instead of repeating life support when listing ship components, the last one should be sensors.

*sigh* Just as I feared. It'll be early evening before I get to download considering I'm unfortunate enough to be 4 hours ahead of EST. Heh, at least I'm not gonna have to wait 'till March to play due to there being some sort of delay at Paradox.

Leviathon, I know about the targetting priorities as they currently are in the game. I'm just saying that if you knew you could force the enemy to retreat by destroying a single ship, would you choose to waste time on the other ships first? What if you were at a disadvantage and you were fielding a last gasp defence against a superior force? I'm not a programmer, so I wouldn't have the first idea on how difficult it may be to change the targetting code for this kind of situation.
