QTTabBar - the real one - luckily isn't discontinued yet. Quizo has a tendency to disappear for long stretches of time, but he released an update back in october this year. http://qttabbar.wikidot.com/change-log I use both QTTabBar and Groupy, without a problem. Clicking on Groupy's + button, automatically opens a new QTTabBar (cloned) tab.
Just to chime in: Had the same problem and reverted back to 1.17. Personally, I don't consider it a minor issue, when I can hardly read the tab title. :( I don't use a dark theme, and had the issue with every tabbed program (Command Prompt, Explorer, PowerShell, etc.).
I hate applications that steal the focus or the top window. [e digicons]>:([/e] Did you enable the 'Only show a taskbar button for the active window in a group' option? I use Groupy for autogrouping PowerShell and the likes, and I see only one PowerShell icon in both the taskbar and the Alt-Tab with this option enabled.
Another example of a similar issue: When you use WinSCP, open a file in the editor and then do CTRL+F, the search screen will open on top of the WinSCP screen, not grouped, same coordinates, in exactly the same size as its parent window. It does get weirder though. If I exclude the WinSCP.exe, the search window will then start grouping itself to the (by the looks of it) highest z-ordered window capable of grouping. QTTabBar user also here. If it helps, my Ctrl+N behaves the way Neil describes, so it's not a compatibility issue. I use Groupy to autogroup both PowerShell and the Command Prompt. Normally both open in C:\Windows\System32, so I always used my own shortcuts to have them start in my desired working directory. For what it's worth, I really like the current looks of the tabs. Both options blend in seamlessly with the native look and feel of Windows. That's exactly the way I like it.
Hi Neil, That's good to hear. Thanks for checking. I'm eagerly awaiting the next release. In the past I've tried out TidyTabs, WinTabber and WindowTabs, but they just didn't do it for me. I'm now trying out Groupy and I really like it. The only thing that has kept me from purchasing it yet, has been the strange focusing behavior as mentioned in https://forums.stardock.com/487496/page/1/#3703686 . I think I'll purchase
Once in a while Groupy has some problems with setting the focus of the current application window. This may sound a little bit vague, but that's because it is. :-) But I have found one situation which seems reproducable, on two separate (Windows 10) computers, which may help pinpoint the issue. - Set notepad.exe to automatically group. - Start the command prompt and execute notepad.exe. It will focus Notepad. - Return to the command prompt and execute notepad.exe again.<br
If you switch from a non-group application to a tabbed application and close the tab, the focus switches back to your last focused application. It would be nice if, when closing a tab, the application/tab to the right (or when it is the rightmost tab: the tab to the left) would automatically receive the focus, similar to how tabs in the browser work. Maybe not by default, but as an option. :-)
