Advent enemy. Planet I jump to has no culture rate. Seems random. Abou 1 out of every 5 ships will defect to the Advent enemy.
Thank you so much for writing this up. I am a new player (just finished the second practice challenge) and after watching a few replays/YT/twitch I was like, what the hell is going on? I hope to find the replay this goes with and read through as the actions occur but thanks again for the write-up because it helped steer my thought process toward how the game works.
Might be clearer at the Reddit. I might have
This was originally a reply to: https://forums.offworldgame.com/490448/i-need-help-underground-nuke But I found it useful even for myself to learn from my own replays. I hope this helps Soren sell a whole lot more copies of this game, and I hope that makes the Daily Challenges extremely popular. I always enjoy ichbinenkonto's replays (when the game's Replay system doesn't break down an
So, let's analyze my Daily Challenge replay on 2018-08-16. There are too many concepts I wrote down for myself, could even be a complete book named " Offworld Economics and Takeovers "! Much easier for me to just analyze actual gameplay in order to explain the concepts I learned about this game. HQ Resources First As explained with the Price Mechanics , buying HQ input resources will quickly raise
Give yourself a challenge. Look at today's Daily Challenge. :-) 2018-08-16. El price starts at $50, Gl at $80. Does that mean you should do Robotic/Nomad instead of Scientific/Elite? Recall that the tertiary HQ input is paradoxically the cheapest (very low quantity needed). That already tells you not to decide HQ type based on El or Gl price. Also, the Colony sells 0.80 Gl per turn while buying 2.00 El per turn. El price will creep up rather quickly, whereas Gl price i
So I tried to build glass, as it's worth a fortune, but the ai kills all my water prod, so there's no o2 for the glass.... I just can't work out when I need to build steel mills and when not to, if steel is cheap and I don't build them, it gets expensive, if I do build them it stays cheap...
Each HQ has 3 inputs for upgrade: primary, secondary, tertiary. Although tertiary input (eg Gl, short for Glass) looks expensive, it is para
Pause game. Do a manual calculation by hand of which resource gives the highest returns. There are 2 types of returns: Absolute Returns vs Cash Returns Say Fo (short for Food) price is at $100, Wa (Water) at $10, Po (Power) at $20. Each Farm eats 1.0 Wa and 0.1 Po per turn to produce 0.5 Fo. Ignoring Po cost, the CR (cash returns) for Fo is $50 - $10 = $40. Accounting for Po cost, the AR (absolut
@SuperDaimyo Do you know anything about the "Replay Not Found" error message? I've written my findings at this reply to my own thread . It's driving me nuts. Can you help?
I've had this happen to myself 1 out of 5 times. That means, about twice a week I will need to RE-play a Daily Challenge just to ensure I have a replay uploaded. But I have come to notice when this usually (not always, but reliably enough) happens. All you have to do is: Start a Daily Challenge game. Exit and save the game. Shut down Offworld Trading Company. Shut down your computer for good measure. Turn on your computer agai
I have just about given up on replays. Many scores have "Replay Not Found", my own scores included. I had to RE-play some daily challenges just to ensure I have a replay uploaded. This isn't the first time I have my replay filed under the next day's challenge. :-(
Why is it that there are lots of replays that say "Replay not found" when I click on them?
Yikes. This thread is old. But the forum is so quiet lately. I'll still post this, because I like applauding the ONLY game I can/will play! I agree! This is like the BEST board game ever! Plus it's automated so players don't have to calculate lots of stuff by hand. The random Black Market completely makes every game utterly unique. Game length is an absolute plus. I have never finished a game on Europa Universalis, for eg.
Hope I'm not reviving a thread too old. Correct me if I'm wrong! A shortcut that brings up a "Picture In Picture" that shows an opponent's base. That would be awesome! But may be difficult to design properly in the UI. As for cycling through with Tab key, I have memorized exactly "how many tabs" bring me to which opponent. For now, I can only watch the prices to guess whether there are too many suppliers for any particular reso
This Steam user: "Captain Bucky O'Hare". I watched his replay (he ranked top 2 or 3 on 2016-Oct-24). I couldn't see any cheating. But then, I watched at Blazing speed. The next minute I looked, his name was gone. Have I been watching and learning from cheating replays? :-O (For reference, I'm number 2 on 2016-Oct-24 Daily Challenge. I used a terrible "cheat", an early rush strategy that punished the AI for spending earl
