idle, as a member of the GalCiv community, love those graph you churn out. The number of total games played has remained fairly constant over the August-October time frame with the quantity of maso games increasing significantly each month. idle, as a member of the MWC, can't you put the graphing aside and play more games??? LOL ~SDC~

This is true. If the only way to win was via military conquest and you had to fight toe to toe with the AI, it would be tougher to enjoy the game and easier for the designers to make it harder. The fact that you have to take into account culture, economy, research to go along with military makes this a very versatile game. Which makes it increasingly difficult to make it harder to win once the rules are known. ~SDC~

Alex, thanks for the kudos. I didn't realize I was so close until I had #49 in the bag - then I had to do #50. :) Jordan, it goes something like this: starting from the current day, place your scores in 30 day blocks. So block 1 would be all the games that happened in the last 30 days. Block 2 would be the games that happened 31-60 days ago etc. Now add up the scores of the games in each block and divide by the square root of the number of games you have played in

This is the "BIG ISSUE" that programmers for years have been trying to address: "How do you make the program learn and therefore make their responses or plans be less by "design" and more unpredictable. When we play a game, there are "rules" that we play by, there are situations that dictate a particular response, but in no way are we bound to them. We can say, "In this situation I should do this, but what if I do something really wild?" The computer is bound by its programming or rul

ric, IIRC, you play non-militaristic, like me. I don't know if it is because you can't go toe to toe with the AI, like me, or you just don't like that style of playing, also, like me. It seems to me that if just a small number of AI tweaks and the logistics ability will make maso "impossible" to win again. Not that this is inherently bad, BUT if stardock is successful in making the AI "smarter" it would lessen the need for some of the other "bonuses" they get - like turning a

Ok, I must just be naive. The AI's MUST have some nice PQ bonus that I never thought of. I just checked a year into the game all the AI planets - 21 or better all over the place!! On a side note, I just tried colonizing a 12, 13 and 14 planets and didn't get a single colonization event - whoever thinks these things are happening more frequently must be high! Argh - do I start over or play the hand I am given? I guess I am up for a challenge. ~SDC~

In reference to the "Allies share the benefit of installed modules on SBs", does the same go for the resource bonuses that you may be mining? For instance if I manage to capture and max out 2 culture resources, would my allies under that UP rule be entitled to the approx 140% influence bonus also? Hmmm. The more you play the game, the more questions you have. Love this game. ~SDC~

I hear people saying that a key to having an easier go on maso is to colonize more planets than the AI's - and I hear people often saying that they do just that. Hmmmmm. In my games I play rare tight clusters and I have ctrl-U'd just to see what is available to me vs the other AI's. Generally there is usually one other system with a PQ at 15 or above in proximity to each AI. Beyond that nothing worth grabbing or so I thought. My last game I started with a PQ19 and a PQ14. That's i

Top 100 player is nothing to sneeze at. :SURPRISED: It will be interesting to see how "improved" the AI is when 1.12 comes out. I don't use cheese per se to win at maso, but I do go for getting all AIs allied. At that point, a win is just going through the motions. If it is harder to get the AI to that point, or things have been added to get them to break alliances - I probably would be in trouble. And maybe a few other maso players. :notsure: But then we will just ha
Frankly, I'm really sick of Cotal/Amidala/whatever her name is this week's stupid hopping around. I don't think I'd really want her in my empire, since she's guaranteed to leave it in like 2 days anyway.
Hmmm, Stupid rhymes with Cupid. Arrgh, don't go there kid. :D I think that is why idle and surther wanted to get our input on becoming invite only. Special Forces is invite only, so she could only join them if they wanted her to. That at least tells me they pr
How do you culture flip, what was my understanding doesn't work. I built SB with cultural improvements but they won't flip, they won't even have the cross and bones representing that they want to flip. Just let me know, the only way that I can get planets is to invade and sometimes that is just to costly.
Dark Lord, it largly depends on their cultural influence and cultural resistance. Anything you can do to enhance the cultural pressure to flip the better. Most Galacti

Ok, let's keep the eye on the ball folks. Jedi's are still right in front of us:
3 Jedi 784 2254426 4 MWC 874 2144729
Only 109,697 behind. If Mauler, Jordan, Jon, Gyb and I each put in a game similar to our latest submissions, we should pick up around 40k. It can be much more with the help of the rest of the group. C'mon MWC! Go MWC! ~SDC~
