I would argue that the prices are extremely immobile. If the prices were more mobile then we would not have the standard build of aluminum+steel through the first upgrade and add glass+power through the second. If prices were more mobile and no one sold food then anyone who did not produce food through the first 5 mins of the game would be deeply in debt. As it currently stands the prices are so inflexible that is it suicidal to produce only basic resources and use cash to upgrade. </

I would love that option even if I had to turn it on every game. death spirals are great for the game because they provide a victory condition in the mid game (for other people of course).

OBSERVATION In most games that I play I notice a pattern early game. Everyone throws down aluminum mines and steel mills and waits to upgrade their base. This is fine for most games, but for a commodities trading game this state of affairs should be looked at with concern. EXPLANATION The reason this is allowed to happen is that the pricing of raw materials (and all resources) does not fluctuate much early game.
