You don't. The patch 1.0x.1 changed the way it works. You now loose all components when you hit upgrade. It sounds like this will be temporary until the 1.1 patch comes along with better upgrade options. At first I did not like this, but now that I am used to it, it is no biggie. Now I can easily make sure I have the best available at the time of upgrade. Tony

I'll leave #1 for the math guys. 2. The default designs are usually more powerful than what you can design when they first become available, but that quickly changes as you develop more techs. You are better off in the long run designing most of your ships. You can make faster Colony and Constructor ships, for instance. You can customize warships to your adversary. Even little advances

Well, I must say I am surprised by the hostility of some posts.... I've been reading forums for, oh, 10 years at least, and never seen a discussion of it, but then of course I know that such discussions have been had, and I just missed out. For the rest of you, very informative... I stand corrected on the Axis and Allies thing.... its been a lon

I agree that building and moving all the constructors is a real pain. I like the idea of stations upgrading themselves but there has to be a price. Maybe make it that to upgrade cost you credits, but make it so the station has to build the upgrade, instant upgrade would be bad. I really like this idea. I also tire of moving contrstuctors around most of the g

To be honest, the CE content is nice but is no huge deal. You get an alternate GalCiv Windows Desktop and something like 12 - 15 extra pieces of Jewelry to decorate ships with. If you don't have it already, I wouldn't worry about it. Tony

No regrets here. I have been more engrossed in GalCiv2 than I have in any other game in a long time. I have probably over 30 hours of game play in now, and I am not a former beta tester. Sure there are a few things that can be improved, but overall, I really like what we have. I can't wait to see what tweaks Brad and the crew have down the road for us. Tony

I don't think Gamestop got many CE boxes, if any. The CE box is a shiny, silver box. Believe me, the extra pieces look very much like the other pieces. They are nice to have, but if you didn't have them you wouldn't miss the. If you order from Stardock, you get the CE version. It's the only version they sell. Tony

Wallmart only carries the CE. You may still find it in some other stores, depending on what they ordered. You can order it directly from stardock here. Even if you order the CD version (not just the download), you will get a temp serial number so you can play while you wait for the CD to arrive. Tony

Star Dragon pretty much hit it. Just a few cosmetic parts to add to ships, and a new Windows skin for your operating system. You get the CE if you order the download right here from stardock. If you order the optional CD, they will send you the collectible edition box, CD and a printed tech tree. You will also get a temp serial number so you can download and play right away until the CD shows up. Wallmart only carries the CE if you are looking for a store. Tony

You get them by researching the Construction techs. Some of the Campaign missions don't have all techs available to research if that is relevant to what you are playing. Tony

Hey, it's the famous Yin. I'm glad to see you are enjoying Galciv. Very interesting discussion with the gang over at Poly. I have to agree with the I play to have fun approach, not what it the square root of my grandmother, but we all enjoy things in different ways. Tony

Check your logitech configuration software. There should be a way there to activate your middle mouse button. Tony

So I guess Tony (the RTFM Guy on the forum) and LMAO guy owe somebody an apology? I do indeed apologize to Citizen Morbutor and anyone else if you had in fact read the manual. My point was that the manual says you do have to log into the Meteverse before begining a Meteverse game, and I thought you were complaining no one told you. I'm sorr

Well, if you're referring to me, I'm used to looking like an idiot. That said, I re-read the whole thread again and don't see how I look any more stupid than usual. Even if I do look like an idiot for reasons that I am too stupid to comprehend, why the insults and foul language? Tony

Microsoft actually recommends placing some game files in My Documents in their recommended practices. Checking my My Documents, I have Age of Empires 3, Rise of Nations, Sid Meier's Pirates, Halo, Civ 4 and Gal Civ all with folders in a My Games Folder in My Documents. Several of those are Microsoft games. They were all placed there by their respective programs, not myself. In stand alone folders in My Documents I have Battlefield 2, Flight Simulator, Empire Earth II, Na

One thing I noticed (and do not like) is that it is no longer possible to make changes to an existing design; you have to make the new design from bare components. Yes, I would like to see the option to just replace/upgrade components in addtion to starting with a clean hull with jewels. Tony

After reading the complaints about the AI attacking, I just realized that I have never been attacked by the AI, even though I have played a half dozen games or so. I have only been attacked by the Dreadlords during the campaign. I wonder if it is because I always have a strong military and a good trade network with the civs that they don't attack me? <br/
