Looking forward to dancing with the DancingBogman.

Oh, I missed that thread, sorry about the double.
Apparently the system allows players to change difficulty settings in an MP game when all players are ready, I suggest this be changed in such a way that difficulty setting are only possible when a player is not 'ready', causing the start to be delayed until all players approve the move.
Interesting options... I am still fascinated by the role of the neutral colony, I would like to see more info about it during play. It could work as an option to generate more general demand in a weak market, but it can only be so when its obvious how its doing. And building the neutral colony would then be an obvious next step. That said, letting its growth be a result of the prices can make for some interesting play too.
Since the system DeftMunky wrote about is still a while away, does anybody have a comprehensive list of the current onces?
Thanks, I appreciate that. Friend request sent. :)
I don't have time to play many multiplayer games, so when I have played a game I would like the possibility to discuss the match after the game is finished. I see people doing this in the lobby of a next game but a best you get only a few people who were in that last match, and I don't play consecutive matches so for me there is no 'next lobby'. When playing the colony stock mode this hits even harder because that last stage of such a match is the most hectic, and peop
That is a risk that is only being caused by the lag, and this will certainly be fixed in the (hopefully very) near future.
Here's a link to a brand new site with lots of useful stuff: https://www.offworldtrader.com/blog/the-essential-guide-to-offworld-colony-types
Not if the AI took over the player during the game.
1. There can be (and usually are) more than one auction of pirates in a game. 2. When a line crosses the pirates' footprint the cargo has a chance to be taken, it's about 50/50 I believe. 3. No, pirates remain until they have stolen 200 resources, after that they leave. Sometimes people shut off their pirated resources, but this will only cause them to remain in position longer. edit: nice x-post, glad we are saying the same :)
I heard Soren explain that it should make the game last longer: yields are smaller, builds are more expendive etc. They have not tested this extensively, so our practice should prove that games indeed last longer.

Thanks for finding and posting the patch notes.
I guess so, I would be interested in seeing those statistics too and I guess we will at some point. :)
Well, one of the changes is a map called "daily challenge". It doesn't seem to save anything locally (maybe elsewhere, I don't know), but we could share results here: I just won playing Scientists. :)
I was looking at a random OTC stream when I noticed it showed the new UI. And sure enough the patch is loading now! Yay! :D
Thanks for letting us know, have fun at the GDC!

Very good suggestions! I too would like to see how many games are in progress (maybe as a toggle since hopefully this will eventually become a long list). Would it be technically possible to step in to "observe" such a game? I find it interesting to watch games to see what tactics are being used, and how the markets react.
If you look at this picture, you see the colony messages, it says that water and food prices are too high, colony shrinking. You have to keep those prices at bay, also if those prices drop very low, then colony grows faster too.
... and a larger colony means higher demand for thing like Steel, Electronics en Chemicals, so a chance for better prices on the local market.
Did he get to win a game in the end?
He's at http://www.twitch.tv/day9tv (3825 watching now) BTW, it is fun to watch him learn the game but he is missing a TON of the info that is in the screen. This way the people who don't know the game yet and are watching this are just as confused as he is. They are getting the message that it is all SUPER complicated.
Options are good, as long as its off by default, The normal game doesn't suddenly become "iron man" or "hardcore" because you add a feature to make it friendlier to new players. If it's on by default, its a terrible, immersion breaking feature that destroys the game flow of an RTS.
Of course this would be off by default, this is an "economic RTS" after all. [e digicons]:)[/e]
@indczn1: I would advocate regular auto-pauses as an OPTION that you of course can choose to ignore. Then there will always be "iron-man" games where this must/will be turned off, maybe even with the auctions not pausing the game.
