Hi, I've installed the new Release Preview of Windows 8 on my Notebook to test it before it comes available later this year. When I try to install GalCiv II from the GameStop App, it refuses to install on this OS. The chance that the game is working smoothly on Win8 is big, all my other games are working too but I think the GameStop App might has the old programmer's fault checking on selected OS. Has anybody an idea to get GalCiv II on my Win8 notebook? Maybe ins

Is the game suitable for people (like me) who always played turn based space strategy games (like Master Of Orion or Galactic Civilizations) to switch to the real time genre? Will there be a demo soon?

Hi, [email protected] just sent me a mail, saying I can upgrade to a boxed version just paying shipping/media. The given web link does not work, it says that there is no upgrade available for my account (the account is "null", think because I have not logged in). When I go to galciv2.com and loggin in, I can't find a link to that upgrade page (something like ...upgrade.aspx). Please help... tell me where I can upgrade w

What did I read from Stardock about the roadmap of upcoming changes... A second expansion pack may be created that adds multiplayer if there's sufficient demand. Beyond that we will have to see. Sufficient demand? I can't talk for all others but when the time has come for that second expansion pack everybody has played dozens of games against the AI and talked about their strategies with others hundreds of times.<br/

One silly question: Where do you take that screenshot from? From the 3D-Map? From the battle viewer? From design screen? In your screenshots the ships have nice light effects with the colored lights. When I design a ship the color lights ar only color spots, they don't appear to emit light...

Thanx, I'll try the refit thing in my next game. The "send-ship-to" function in the planets list would be great. Looking forward to it. In addition to the existing orders for ships (i.e. sentry) a new one "patrol" would be nice to order a ship (or fleet) to move continuously between previously set rally points and engage all enemy vessels it encounters. Hi, I've found a bug while playing my first game: When turn summary appears saying ship xy is build on planet yz I select the entry and klick the goto button. On the following management screen I select the ship and click launch. Then when I want to set the rally point by the rally point button nothing happens. I tried to click the button several times. When I closed the management screen and the turn summary all the set-rally-point boxes appear in the background as may as I pre

Hi, because I'm from Germany I've updated the game this morning. Everything worked smoothly. After work I'll try my first game. I've started the game to check if everything works so I saw the label "Bonus Pack" besides the version number on the title screen. I've heard several things about a special version but my question: What is the service pack all about? What does it add to my game other customers don't have? Greetz, Cpt

Hi, I've just began my first game of GalCiv II and got a question: My home system is quite away from any other systems, so my ships can't reach them. What do I have to research to add range to my engines? I have the feeling, that new engine techs just add speed. When I somehow got more range, do I have to refit all my ships? Greetz, Cpt

Hi, I have purchased GalCiv II in the betatest phase. What do I have to do to get the box when it is released? Is this done automatically because I'm already a customer or do I have to order it someway. Are there additional costs (has to be shipped to Germany)? Greetz, Cpt

Hi, my notebook is a JVC subnotebook. It's screen is just capable of diplaying 600 pixel verticaly, so if playing a game it must be adapt itself to any given resolution or must be playable with 800 x 600 pixel. For GC2 it won't work, I think. Bad luck.

Hi, I have a very special problem and hope, someone can help. After betatesting some weeks my desktop pc is broken. So I want to continue playing on my notebook. There's the problem: My notebook has a wide-screen display (1024 x 600) and I can't get GC2 to work. If I choose fullscreen mode the screen remains black (think, game is crashed), if I choose windowed mode the screen is cut off at the bottom and the mouse coordinates don't fit with the screen graphics (I have to move

Hi, I just updated to beta 3. When I doubleclick a race portrait in race selection screen the game crashes back to windows. Greetz, CptGreenwood

Sorry, I can't. Since I first saved a race, I cannot reproduce the bug. When I select the presaved custom race, edit it, clear it, modify it and hitting done, everything is fine. But I'm quite sure, before the problem was solved it was not important how the custom race was equiped, with many points used, less point used, no points used... it always crashed.

I can't believe I didn't try it. You are right. If I save the race before pressing done, everything is fine. Is it intended to work that way? Wouldn't it be better if the done button is greyed out until the race is saved or to remove the save button and save the race when hitting done?
