During communications with aliens, different members of the alien race should look/sound slightly different, with slightly different backgrounds as well. It shouldn't feel like you're talking to a single alien that represents the entire race. Example, talking to Fwiffo compared to the talking to the Spathi High Counsel.
I concur. I also liked the fonts being used to differentiate. &nbsp

Our race of Founderlings must be amusing to our galactic overlords. It's not enough like SC2! Change it! It's too much like SC2! Change it!

You meet a race of aliens that claim to be the founders. They are an ancient race that had spent eons analyzing a parallel universe. They have come to idolize this universe, and the race's leaders are attempting to recreate it. But... They have to change elements of this universe, or else the denizens of this parallel universe will come to our universe and destroy everything. The founders are currently engaged in a doctrinal conflict. Members of the ra

When I want to play with friends, we have a D&D session, play Vampire:TM or play Carcassone or another board game. So Meh, Meh and re-meh.
That's too bad, but I understand. SC2 was predominantly a single player RPG. Yet SuperMelee plays to the crowd that likes to play video games in
Back to the question from the OP: If I wasn't a founder, I wouldn't shell a dime for a new ships DLC. To me, Supermelee is not such an attraction. I'm in for the exploration part, the dialogues part, the humor and the aliens. Combat during exploration? YAY! Combat for the sake of combat? Meh.
If a DLC is a ship pack or anything else that may alter melee or multiplayer play, then it shouldn't be allowed for use in multiplayer unless all participating players have it.
I agree with this 100%. DLC ships should only be playable via network multiplayer if everybody has access to them. This is doubly true when the DLC ship is the best counter to a non-DLC ship or if the DLC ship is best-in-class overall. I
DLCs are just because developers could not finish the game and thought it would be a smart idea to sell those parts as DLCs. So you plan in making a game with A, B, C, D, E, F, G, but budget and time only allowed for A to D. So you wrap it up and announce E, F, G, as DLCs and charge for it.
Well... The alternative is that the developer does not get paid. At the end of SC2 (which went over budget and took 2 years

We started talking about DLC ship packs in the Timed Quest thread, and I wanted to continue a tangent thread here. Would you pay for DLC ship packs? To be clear, these would be new ships/aliens only and not new quests or single player content. Pros + More SuperMelee ships !!! + New ships would have new abilities Cons - DLC ships would not be as useful in the single player campaign - DLC s

In some cases, it's well-deserved, especially when you're only buying one or two things, or buying consumables. No, what I'm referring to are transactions for packs of ships that aren't enough content to be called dlc, but too many to be considered a microtransaction. Does that make sense? I've put literally 3k+ hours into Fallout 3/NV, way more time than I care to admit in WoW, (I'm only at 113 hours in Fallout 4 right now). If the game isn't compelling enough for you to want to do well, what's the point of playing it? For clarity, I'm not trying to be hostile, I'm legitimately curious. I hope many of the tracks have a strong melody. A nice atmospheric background is okay for some parts, but the melody is what keeps me listening to songs. I was actually arguing that if you give hardcore mode a special bonus, people who wouldn't normally like hardcore mode would play hardcore mode just for the bonus. They would get frustrated and stop playing the game altogether. Not everybody wants to put 20+ hours into a game only to fail it

I'm of the mind that suuuper special things should require a bit more effort to achieve. Besides, the difficulty modes was just a suggestion. A suggestion that can be expanded upon. These could be presets, but ultimately have a series of checkboxes you can check to customize your experience.
