Returning armada is cool. But compare that to the advent +max allegiance, cap ship auto level, and culture cannon. Advent dont get crap for econ techs and late game there just hurting unless they just brute forced their econ by having more planets. Returning armoada is also always overlooked for the travel factor and more the ship factor; the ability to travel in one jump between planets is frickin ridiculous and once u get DA up u got the speed bonus on those jumps as well. With the ranges on cap ship abilities you also want to keep your ships in nice neat rows i agree though that there should be a better fire on the move system.

Know the straight econ techs, metal/crytal increase, trade port, desert and terran pop increase, resource focus and the increases to resource focus ,and culture centers and the high level one that increases your max allegiance on all planets. You'll want to focus on those as fast as possible and build as many trade centers as you can. Tech buildings are fairly cheap so build up until u have all or most of each then max out your logistics on all your planets and fill in with trade cente

The phase gate ability in and of itself is op, forget those 8 jumps u need to make to hit the other side of your empire just 1 jump it with a phase gate. Oh and by the way a few more techs and they give yuo free ships! It's the most ludicrously op thing in any game i've ever played. Novaliths come in a distant second, even with nukes in supcom theres a counter. All I want is an option to diable the op crap they have in the game.

[quote]mother ship kicking off shield regen and they win big time. what's going to stop him from FF your mothership and then retreating when it's dead? I agree that defense vessels do work, but they take a long time to kill. Their main strength is that they can't really be killed by LRMs. But that's moot if the player doesn't even target your defense vessels in the first place. LRM's main strength is that they quickly take down cap ships and structures. The LRMS MAIN

Sorry this forum is getting more whacked all the time, here is my whole post no idea why it didnt save. This is the most ridiculous thing i've seen. Defense vessels will own massed lrms, put em with a mother ship kicking off shield regen and they win big time. The LRMS MAIN weakness is it only fires from one arc, use that to your advantage and keep moving the 360 degree firing arc of the defense vessels away from their main arc youll get alot more mitigation by not even taking hits, the

Well i play advent a ton, almost exclusively. There are alot of good opening strats but it all depends on your intel as what to build. Lrms die really fast to progenitor mothership and swarms of defense vessels. Getting a second mothership gives you a second colonizing ship and gives you a second shield regen. The advents true power comes in keeping your formations nice and tight. Two mother ships firing off shield regen swarmed by 20-30 defense vessels wipes out lrms en masse with little cost t

As a capital reaches certain levels it can carry more squadrons, just check your caps when they level and see if its showing a higher number of available squadrons and make sure to queue up a fighter or bomber.

No. This is a bug. I have run at the start of a game out of a system with three eniemies to another star system. Your new homeworld will be at 25% and there is no enemy culture around. All subsequent colonies as long as they are founded after your have moved your homeworld will be at 90% etc depending on the distance to your new homeworld. Your new homeworld will increase its alleagiance very very very slowly to 100%. Mainly its a bug because it makes 0 sense that your new home

The multiplayer setup needs alot of work Add show non password, and non full to the multiplayer filter Add player type observer, observers can only chat in the ALL channel in game. Now that observers can be added add the map selection to the game setup screen, if you drop to a lower player # map extra players will be in observer slots and not have exited the room. Recreating a game everytime you want to go from a 4v4 to a 3v3 bites big time cause players have a tendenc

The main problem is the novalith. A few of these firing at a single system is goodbye system, kinda takes fleets outta the game at that point. Change the TEC weapon or nerf the crud outta it. It will ruin the game just like superweapons ruined the multiplayer aspect of cataclysm, the game became completly centered around superweapons. Honestly i don't mind the aspect of superweapons but the artilery aspect of the novalith is just over the top. Maybe just change the novalith to a trade

Homeworld was a revolutionary game for its time but you will note immediatly that things like queue;ing multiple orders is not there. Other things like the movement system using the system map were very simplistic by todays standards. It still holds up graphically to an extent as well. The music and the story are one of the best ever seen in pc games. HW: Cataclysm was a fantastic game. Better graphics and updated controls and a decent story. It had good multiplayer although was somewh

Since Sins is doing so well and theres a feeling of newer players to the space genre I thought I would post some links to some upcoming space games. I am having a blast with sins right now and am truly hoping for the space game genre to start making a comeback. Here are 2 games to keep an eye on. Infinity - The quest for earth MMO, small ship based flight sim type combat. Videos: Watch the planetary take off and landing videos - very impressive like seriously watch this

I can alt tab just fine there is something happening in the login process that Norton is throwing up a permit msg on and hanging the game, ability to alt-tab is just a symptom of this event hanging up sins, the time i was able to alt-tab by starting up a ton of apps all i could see was the taskbar no apps could take foreground except task manager and I couldn't even end process on soase after confirming end process, its a hard lock.

Ok I was having an issue where i would try to login to Ironclad Online and it would hang my system, couldn't alt-tab, ctrl-alt-del, alt-f4, nada, had to reboot. After installing the bonus patch and starting about 6 apps i got it where i could alt-tab and saw that Norton was throwing a window up. I assumed this was the standard "do you wish to allow" message (no idea what I needed to allow but I am guessing it was the script blocker). I completly disabled Norton 2008 (running on xp pro)

You've never played multianna i am guessing I had ~15 flaks(tech on its weapons were fully upgraded) near the Kol not to mention 2 carriers 8 light carriers, lrm frigs, etc. Anyone w3ho can micro properly can annihilate a cap ship with massive (say like 15-20 bomber wings, level 9 carriers do help) grouped bombers esp supported by LRM frigs, the big boys dont stand a chance. I really really have no idea where that came fr

I think its mainly due to an extremly poor lack of defensive systems on cap ships overall. Cap ships should by their very nature have ALOT more anti-fighter and anti-missle defense systems than they do currently right. Right now they mainly function as fodder. Players quite smartly are going to group bombers and LRM frigs and direct attck cap ships. I have seen a lvl 6 Kol go down in a little under 6 seconds. Plus when you compare tactical abilities of carriers vs main support cap ships it becom
