Hi, I've never come remotely close to this of course but was wondering what would happen if you were invaded after surrounding the capital of a planet with six indestructible buildings and stuck a legion in it. I'm guessing that this would cause an infinite loop, maybe after all other buildings had been destroyed. Or do attackers go through indestructible buildings without affecting them? Cheers, Jon &n

Hi, Under 2.5 at least, it seems that weak AIs will defy the United Planets after the resolution consigning defiers to total war has been passed, thus effectively committing suicide. Presumably this behaviour wasn't intended. Cheers, Jon
When I double-click on Treasure Hunt to build it, I sometimes get whatever is first in my favorites list. It may be a colony ship or a constructor/erector. I have recently designed a better scout ship that is now first in my favorites list. It is the one that is now sometimes put into the build queue instead of Treasure Hunt. I have learned to always look at the build queue to see what was actually put into it so I c
Many thanks PShaw One other thing while you're here. On my screen resolution which is 1920x1080 there are occasions when I click on the Treasure Hunt icon in a shipyard (or at least think I have) and instead it builds me a colony ship (which I then normally pay to change to a constructor). I don't know if anybody else has experienced this but perhaps it's screen specific? Cheers, Jon
Hi again, Actually, after checking a couple of saves, I think they are automatically being assigned as leaders, which is certainly better than nothing but not quite what was intended. Cheers, Jon
Hi, I've tried this a couple of times and after the mission completes, nothing happens which is a little irritating Has anybody else seen this? Cheers, Jon
Hi, I'm not sure whether this has been mentioned before, but when you conquer a precursor anomaly and it promises you +5 antimatter, you don't get it. I'm not sure about other resources, because I was saving up antimatter to build a manufacturing capital so it was very obvious. Cheers, Jon
So absolutely. I just got burned by auto-upgrade. All my durantium kept mysteriously vanishing, and I was saving up for Singularity PP. Took about 20 turns to finally figure out what was going on. It even upgraded factories that I was later going to tear down and throw up a Fusion PP, when I had the antimatter. Grrrrr. Goodbye 8 durantium, for that industrial sector I didn't want. <br
Hi again Tetley, Yes of course the best choice depends on race and the map - how many planets you expect to colonise. And in the opening the planets are more about ideology and denying them to your opponents than their immediate benefit. I realise that with Xenophobic races you have to go three rings into Malevolent to get the ship building and with the tech bonus for the Iconians, the Benevolent line is much less important. I tend to leave Xeno Economics for a while but indee
My thoughts are more about your ideology strategy. Only two Malevolents, and then you move on without choosing the third? You can do a. lot more with that 100% shipbuilding besides wage war. Second, you value starbases a lot, but chose to forego the first pragmatic? And third, what do you think of Benevolent's free colony ship? That ship comes loaded down with 9 free population, and that is a much bigger deal in 2.5, as I understand it. <br
Hi, I've played three games now in 2.5 and wondered what people think and about some issues in particular. The three were all Huge galaxies 10 opponents, Genius. In the first as the Slyne I got what i thought was a decent opening but then got attacked from two sides and gave up in disgust. I was impressed by the AI's aggression which was considerably more than previously. The second Slyne game (I think I discarded a couple of v bad openings in-between) i got another v
I found a bug where invading a planet with Information Warfare tactics causes the population to be roughly quadrupled after the invasion
Ah yes I did use Information Warfare a few times and presumably on their capital so I imagine that's it. Many thanks, Jon
Hi, In my latest game (which, a separate issue, I've just finished with 79 colonies, a population of 2887 and a final score of 30) there are a couple of captured planets which have very strange population totals. In particular, Drengi which is class 19, claims to have a population of 340.4 though the Drengans were pretty backward when I eliminated them. Has anybody else had this and do Stardock need a ticket or is it some issue with number types or
Hi, A vast amount of work is obviously being done by Brad personally and his team and this is very much to be applauded. Rather than going through all the points, I do feel that the "population tweak" of going from square root to 1-1 should be addressed because this would not be a "tweak" at all but a total game changer. In the base game, population was key, then in the initial version of Crusades it was made almost irrelevant and now it's proposed that it be
Hi, When I click on "Show All" in the diplomacy screen (crusades 2.30) I find it a bit hard to see who's at war with whom what with all those curves. So please could we have that info available as text, perhaps in the report window? Cheers, Jon
Hi, Surely the point is that this is a game and you make the choices to optimise your chances of success. In this context, ideology is rather an emotive word though I haven't thought about an alternative - perhaps I will later and others might too? In the base game, it was relatively easy very early on to generate raw production through Durantium refineries and raw science through Thulium data archives. (These could be rushed on specific planets if you didn't rush too mu
Hi, During one of the many upgrades of my main battleship type, I forgot to reassign this from the default Support - Heaven knows why it was pretty powerful by then - to Assault. The result has been that when I defend transports with fleets of these the transports - v valuable as I finish the rest of the galaxy off - get destroyed. I know this is my stupidity but still fairly easy to do. Has anybody else had this problem? Presumably, one solution would be
Why would every race start a war with you over some other race's home world anyway? They might not even LIKE those aliens.
Hi A good point since actually everybody was already at war with everybody else when this happened. Cheers, Jon
Hi ,I'm playing a game (as the Terran resistance - Huge map 10 opponents so plenty of space to expand in the opening) and had almost total control before I suddenly to my surprise found myself at war with three of the remaining factions and that "You know what you did". Stupidly, I didn't notice the declaration and imagine that it's because I implemented the "war with any faction that defies the United Planets" which I guess must be retrospective. Has anybody no
Hi, I don't know whether anyone else has mentioned this but in 2.3 when you attempt to eject a ship form a fleet, it then shows the wrong ships when you attempt to move. (ie you try to click on a ship which has been split off and instead find yourself moving the parent fleet). Has anybody else had this problem? Cheers, Jon
Hi, You can also go through all the planet windows and remove research buildings from their queues. As you remove them, the Promethion count will go up so once enough have gone, you should be able (assuming there are enough of them queued) to start the Ascension Gate immediately. Cheers, Jon
Civ5 has splendid "upgraded graphics" which I personally with poor eyesight couldn't discern properly.
No one cares about graphics that doesn't affect the game you need more than this. Now the things I noticed right away killed the game. Taking a step backward with ideologies didn't really kill the game, but getting rid of citizens, and spending allocation did.
Hi, No I d
Hi, I'm about to declare war in a 2.30 game and wanted to get paid by one of the several other civs at war with my intended target before I do. However, when I click on declare war in the trade screen (obviously for me on the left hand side) it crashes. I've tried this with two different civs with the same effect. I was wondering whether other people have experienced this and guess that I'll submit a ticket. Cheers, Jon
Hi again, Sorry it was Seafireliv who made the point about the diplomacy in Civ5 and 6 - not the original poster. Cheers, Jon
Hi, I agree that the Civ franchise has created some good games in its entirety but none of them were without faults and this iteration of GalCiv in particular has a long way to go before it matures, potentially into something splendid. I especially liked Civ2 and Civ4 (never tried Civ1). But while Civ2 has a sensible combat structure (except that a battleship can potentially be sunk by a fortified phalanx on a mountain) the AI was perforce insectoid. Civ
