For me, targeting known top players before they are even in the lead is not skill or strategy, but zombie-like behavior. Why make it easier? I am ready to accept that the "optimal debt at founding", with perfect play from all sides (!), might sometimes reside between debt ticks. Any amount of fear of randomness, however, does not change things. In any evenish game, if the key auctions or shorts favour one of the players at key moments, that player is going to win. How is that surprising? I disagree that single dominating spots are bad for the game. On the contrary, I think if more such spots existed, the founding meta would become a lot more interesting. Every example about "OP spots" seems to revolve around "30ms too late", "32k vs 34k". That is totally missing the point.
