Hang on a sec ... wouldn't it be more accurate to say that there's a trade-off involved? MPEG decoding isn't free, as your posts (and many other posts) implies. MPEG decoding is handled by another processing chip, and depending on your hardware, may even be a worse option than using WMV. In my case, my Tablet PC uses a chip on the GPU to decode MPEG2, and while this is lower in CPU usage, the heat and battery reduction caused by the GPU are significant. Neil, So here's the scenario I envision. You'd have a pre-rendered desktop video that could change depending on the time. Then, you could handle weather effects through 3D elements. Could you do something like that, or would it be easier to have a complex chain of videos and transition videos? Could you pre-buffer video for the transitions? Can't help but notice that "Blissful" is shown in the third shot, but as a sunrise or sunset. Is that going to be one of the dynamic DeskScapes? Because that would be HOT. As I understand DeskScapes, basically all you're doing is using some sort of XML feed or service to determine when to swap out video. So if you do it based on time, perhaps you're reading the time in the system, but for the weather, maybe you're reading it from the weat

I've bought the theme, and overall, I love it. However, I don't think that the WindowsBlinds skin matches the icons or general style at all. Plus, there appears to be a bug that makes the wallpaper included be removed and left with a blue background when the WindowsBlinds skin is installed. I've had to go back and install JUST the wallpaper to fix it. Overall, I'm happy. I just hope that Paul at some point expands the number of icons available. I loved how many I got with t
