Generally, having two different apps trying to make changes to the UI is not going to work well - if you turn off OpenShell, does everything go back to functioning normally?

At this time that feature is not currently available in Fences 6, however, the ability to add Tabs to a Fence group is now possible but I dont think that is going to solve the exact scenario you have outlined.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, we have an out-of-band build that we believe will resolve this issue. As with all of our other out-of-band builds, this has not received the same level of review prior to shipping as a traditional beta release for us - so please do no install on any critical infrastructure.
