At 77% it has slowed to a trickle. I was hoping it would speed back up, but it hasn't. I keep thinking maybe I should start recovering what it has, but it hasn't completely stopped deep scanning yet, so I figured I would wait until it says its done.

So it seems to be going well initially. It scanned a bunch of stuff quick and then continued with a deep scan which has been going about 5 hours and is about 68% complete. I figured I would wait for the deep scan to finalize before trying the recovery part. It definitely looks promising.

The enclosure arrived today and it will not boot with the drive, but when I plug and play it I get notice that the device is there as Local drive F, but the line indicating how much data exists is gone and the screen freezes.

Thanks to all for the info and help. I'm thinking I will try to see if the computer can read from a plug and play hard drive enclosure before anything else... if it can somehow read the drive, I can then get the data I need off it, or if not, maybe I can still have other options. The good news is I already found my lossless music library on another back up hard drive that I had stored and was already able to restore that, so that's a huge relief.

Problem is the drive, even though its not an operation drive prevents windows from booting... I'm not sure what would happen in safe mode, but when I boot with this storage drive installed it goes to repair computer, names the failed drive and it fails in its operation (becomes stuck).. When I reboot windows is totally corrupt and in need of system restore. A real pain.

Had a HDD go down a couple days ago and its been a pain. At first my windows installation went corrupt after it couldn't boot with that drive, but that was easily fixed with system restore. So I've been trying to fish the unbacked data off the failed drive and I'm still at it. The closest I came to mounting it in Linux was with Linux Puppy, but the files were read only and I couldn't copy them. Basically I don't care much about the drive, just the data on it. I was hoping I could fish the fil

A lot of people are still stuck in the clapping seal mindset of Democrats Vs Republicans, but in reality it is globalist elites from both parties and the corporate world seeking to end the freedom of Americans and make them slaves to a liberal world order, which is threatened mostly by China, Russia, and populist nationalist movements at home.

Things really change politically over the years. One of the biggest 180 turns in the overall political world comes with the issue of abortion. In the 80's and 90's, anti abortion activists carried signs that depicted grotesque aborted fetuses, and when these people were interviewed they seemed backwards, and in some cases, violent. We had abortion clinic bombers, which didn't make much sense. Yeah, I believe in a right to life, so I'll commit a murderous bombing to assert those beliefs! Fast

Vile hypocrite Cuomo. I'm sure NY business will be pleased to learn that the crushing lockdowns were only designed to inflict maximum damage to the Trump administration and would end on inauguration day... provided it was evil Biden being inaugurated. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/cuomo-coronavirus-lockdown-reopen-economy?fbclid=IwAR2iHPWPj5_ZMhgS0u

I think its basically a bad idea when obedient humans goosestep off a cliff like lemmings to the communist Chinese model of lockdown. Lets follow the advice of the communists who infected us in the first place. Sounds real smart. The parts of the US that weren't locked down like South Dakota and Florida are doing quite well compared to festering Democrat sewers like NY, and California.

All of this could have been avoided if Australia had schoolhouse rock like the Americans. They had great educational cartoons with songs like "No more kings" which was my favorite!

Yeah I guess you are right. I guess the patriots at Concord bridge should have just dropped their weapons and gave up on the idea of freedom cause living in the chains of slavery would have been far less dangerous and far more considerate. Whats the sense of freedom and independence if one is dead right? How irresponsible can they have been?

A startling metamorphosis has occurred. A new mutated strain of Covid has emerged and it is noted for being even more contagious and causing even more hysteria than the original. Victims of the strain were last seen murmuring things like, look at how irresponsible they are, and charge those who let their nose slip out of the mask with attempted murder!

You can mock me if you wish Jafo, I admire the tenacity of a person who could survive a police state lockdown such as the one you were forced to endure.

Its amazing how misinformed and misguided the people are in the face of this Covid virus. It doesn't take much fearmongering and gaslighting to convince normally rational people to comply with lock downs and arbitrary demands that are like something out of a science fiction movie or novel. It really goes to show that even in 2020, the human mind is still a primitive and superstitious thing, and it doesn't take much to incite a mob of rabidly frothing villagers wielding torches and pitchforks
