Thank you guys, but SkinStudio does not show up for me. I assume it is supposed to be a separate dl from WB? This is how my dl section looks now (blurred out personal info like keys etc): http://imgur.com/a/uB4dO WB is showing there, the two GC games I got, but not SkinStudio (not in "history" either). Could it be a problem that the paypal account I used to buy WB uses a different email than my usual

Ok, I checked the mail from Stardock Sales having purchase info and WB key - indeed it says I purchased WB and got SkinStudio added for free. But SkinStudio does not appear in the list of "My Downloads", only WB. I even dl-ed and installed the whole WB package again since I thought it might be in there, but not in the trial version I had first. But it seems SkinStudio itself is nowhere on my computer, and selecting "edit style with SkinStudio" in WB only leads me to the
I bought a key for the full version meanwhile. I'm even considering to make custom skins myself, but it seems SkinStudio, which I understand is the software to use for this, is not available separately anymore? At least I only found it as part of the whole Object Desktop Suite? Can I still get Skin Studio alone somehow or is there an alternative that works with WB?
Just updated recently to Win 10, I do also run a trial for SD's WindowBlinds and launched GCIII today the first time with those. After the loading screen I got a message saying something about my gfx card drivers being too old, which in itself is strange, and never happned before under Win 7. However, even more confusing was that the msg said - if I understood it correctly - drivers should be at least from 2013, then ended with a line like "your driver is from
Thanks a bunch for the quick reply
Hi everyone, Upgraded to Win X recently and I'm a bit disappointed by the overall look as well as the lack of customization options. But at least it was free...However, being a happy GC II/III player I remembered SD offers some nifty tools to change the GUI, so here I am, testing WindowBlinds. Long story short: I like it, but I'm wondering if I will be able to color/skin certain areas in the full version that don't seem to get affected
No prob :) Old-Spider: Thanks, that's a nice bit of info indeed. I thought of doing not only static pics for my leader gfx project, but also provide vids/anims, so having the rename trick working would be cool. But for the moment there are two things scaring me away from doing it - the extra workload of animating leaders and the pre-bnk filesizes that would result from rendering full-hd anims. But maybe I'm going back to this... &nb
That screen looks nice. I'm going to try your ideas :) FWIW re game videos: from a dev comment I understood technically you could replace them with custom vids, but even if you have a complete custom video/anim ready to implement the Bink2 video format the game is using is only available for devs. The BNK1 vids in GC2 were easy to replace by using (then free) Bink tools to convert any vid/anim you like, but for BNK2 which is now used there are no comparable
I think it would also be nice to edit the (non-custom) GC3 races included in the main game and addons using the race editor, with an option to reset to their original settings.
Has somebody done it successfuly utilizing the mod folder? The original launch pics is in ..\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Galactic Civilizations III\Gfx There are two files, the smaller one that comes up immediately (with Windows in the back still) and the bigger DDS file when the game goes full screen. I tried to put other pics with identical file names/format under: 1. ..\My Games\GalCiv3\Mods\Gfx 2. ..\My Games\GalCiv3
That's pretty cool, I thought it would take longer... Looking forward to playing this :)
No. Just the rather early preview afaik, so I guess it will take a while still
Sorry for bumping, but pls Stardock consider adding more keyboard shortcuts indeed. One thing I'd find particularly helpful: being able to turn the ship around in the designer using arrow keys - the current "hold mouse btn/drag" method is really uncomfortable.
Pretty impressive! Thanks indeed :)
There was such a nifty tool to create custom ship styles in the GC II Ultimate Edition I had, so I hope we get something similar soon for GC III... Thanks for the guide however
Ok, I never got that prob with sendpace...the file itself is tested virus-free with AVG. However, I included a second link in the op leading to a Dropbox location. Pls. drop me a note if it's not working (because I hardly use DB to share stuff publicly, so dunno if it's all right).
The 1st part is released :) Please see the OP for link and some new previews. FWIW I had some of those created already for GC II, which needed quite some rework for III though. A couple are completely new.
Thx for the comments. I'll release them in small batches of ca. 5-10 leaders, the 1st batch in the next days. I do mostly leader foregrounds (so the actual leaders gfx on transparent BG) plus the smaller pics for the race selection. In some specific cases I'll provide backgrounds too, for example right now I have an aquatic alien in the works that makes most sense in combination with a blueish background. Other than that people can just u
Yeah, tho one could go with Photoshop Elements which is not expensive...but for a free alternative GIMP is pretty good.
I'm working on a couple of leader gfx. Pls. see the preview pic for some examples. I plan to create more, but it's not that fast, so don't expect lotsa new gfx each week. But I guess I'll be playing GC III for longer so...:) edit: updated May 20 2019 - includes citizens https://www.dropbox.com/s/4wm8f936xs6poyp/Leaders_v3.zip?
I updated the preview & download in the OP, now including 10 additional logos plus the 10 previously released. The new ones are those in the lower rows in the preview pic above.
I don't have a problem with the AI attacking me when it thinks I'm unprepared. During my fist games they sometimes surprised me, but now I can usually deal with it quite well. I don't like the "out of range" wars known from GC II, but mostly because I think it's rather strange - they should IMO make war if they come in striking distance, or are neighboring my sectors, not ages before they can reach me. But most often these wars against me are the only wars goin
Check out if there are weapons or other modules present. If you just saved a design, but not the actual configuation, then want to make a new ship type out of it, but forget to further attach stuff you might get the pure hull, which could explain the short time. Otherwise I dunno ...
The 1st thing usually happening to me is that one or two of the major AIs declare war against me (sometimes even when they're way out of range) earlier, I guess due to idelogical diffs and me building up my military late. But the major AIs hardly go into with eachother a war ca. 200+ turns into the game. At best they attack some minor civ. Is this WAD, or does it depend on any settings? Difficulty perhaps? It makes those games feel rather static...any
I'd like to see: Shipyard: - add option to declare types obsolete (not only in designer) - when ugrading a ship in the build list I often receive a type I don't want - let me select to which type my ship is upgraded Fleet: - let me upgrade several ships in one go - multi-select is possible, but upgrading seems only to work for single ships - option to have an upgrading ship *not* leave the fleet so tha
