This is way too busy for my tastes guys. You're trying too hard here, cut out the chains and the eye balls and this will be way more usable. Icons look like they will be pretty nice when finished.

Nice icons but this wouldn't last 5 min on my rig, its just way too much. As an aside, I'd really love to see Stardock clarify their stance on reusing and updating content in Premium and MyColors themes. If I had spent money on the Spring theme I would have pretty pissed when "Think Green" came out for free this week. Similarly, Khado and Caracal look nice, but having paid for those skins back when they were part of the Essorant Skin Pack 2 (5 skins for $10), I can't justify spending $10

I'm actually starting to wonder if the difference is the fact that FF3 uses different themes on Xp and Vista. I wonder if they only added the native menu skinning to the Vista theme.

This must be a difference between XP and Vista. All the screenshots here showing a skinned FF menu are from Vista (you can tell from the blue back/forward FF buttons).

All the Explorer menu backgrounds look the same for me, it doesn't matter that I posted the Favourites menu. The only difference in appearance (I'm not sure how it works under the hood) is the lack of site icons.

I think the theme manager installs the theme to the Windowblinds directory under Program Files, and hasn't been updated to write it to the Windowblinds folder under Documents and Settings. If you copy the folder over there it will show up in WB and it can be applied. The problem is WB is trying to apply a skin that it can't find. FYI the icon packager portion does the same thing.

I think some of you are confusing classic color schemes with skinned menus, and remember i am running XP not Vista. I tried tonight with "Ultimate Blue" (a vista clone) and RaptureXP. A good way to compare the menus is to open Windows Explorer and hit the Favourites menu. Switch to FF3 and hit Bookmarks, the menus are very different.

One of the features of the new Firefox 3 web browser was supposed to be native widgets and menus. I'm noticing that with FF3.0 and WB6.11(Build 58)/XP-SP2, all my Firefox menus are using Windows Classic theme. Is Stardock working on better Firefox support?

Here's what I understand Explorer does and how the functionality could be replaced. Doesn't seem to be missing much: 1. provides DDE Services 2. Provides Systray services (SDMCP + ObjectDock) 3. Provides Task Management services (ObjectDock) 4. Triggers startup programs from start menu and registry 5. Provides program shortcuts (ObjectDock) 6. provides Icons & other desktop functionality (IconX)

I'm using object dock to display my running tasks and my Systray. I also hide my explorer taskbar, and am using Iconx to generate my desktop. Is there any way to have one of these applications run as my default shell? Will either of them process the startup folders & registry locations if setup in this manner? My other thought would be to run a minimal litestep install just to get things running. 30Mb of ram for explorer to sit there hidden seems w

I would love to see some new features added around the handling of toolbar icons and shell animations. Its kind of a mess right now, especially when you have several skins that use the same icons. I think my install has about 20 copies of the default XP icons from Microsoft.

There is a nagging bug that I find toublesome in getting icon packages put together that may be preventing more packages from being released. The icons seem to get their associations mixed up when you do an incremental save of the package you are working on. This makes it incredibly frustrating when working with a large set of icons.

Can you elaborate on how skins that Object Desktop subscribers won't see for 30 days will be chosen? Is it just by the choice of the artist as indicated above? Some of us subscribers don't use features of this site like personal pages. Given the choice I'd rather see that go away than say not be able to downlaod a skin by Kol for 30 days.

@Cavan1: Yeah I've been doing exactly what you describe. I can get the icons assigned in package builder, but when I save and reopen get mixed up. I open up the icl file in Icon developer and seemed to only have a subset of the icons I had assigned as well.

I've been ripping out my hair trying to convert some Linux icons to XP. I've gotten the conversion done in Icon Developer, but IconPackager keeps mixing up my changes each time I "save" my work (for example my mail icon will get switched to the trash full icon). I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong...any help would be appreciated.

Its the line that says "If System.InternetConnected Then". This function actually pings ms.com and if it gets a response it declares you have an internet connection. I used to have tons of problems with getting web objects to work behind a firewall/proxy and ended up commenting it out it a lot of widgets to get them to work. The problems seem to have cleared up as of late, not sure if its due to changes Stardock made or ones that my company made to
