So far, it looks like what's happening is a leftover registry entry from the previous version isn't being cleaned for some reason, so SDC looks, and says, "Oh, you're still using v1.10, there's this cool new version you should try!" It means well, but it's certainly not optimal. If you contact support, we should be able to help you clear out the offending entry if you're not comfortable with regedit. Based on the few examples I've seen, the left

If you switch to a theme other than Classic in Windows, you should be fine.

Generally within two business days, though it varies based on workload. We're closed on weekends, so we're usually working through that backlog on Monday and Tuesday. Also, make sure not to respond multiple times to a ticket unless you have needed information to relay, as we order off of last reply date, so multiple replies will move your ticket back to the end of the line.
Is this Fences free, Fences Pro, or the Fences 2 Beta?
Yes....what Neil said. This definitely is NOT the first time that Norton's methodology adversely impacts on others.
Norton isn't the only culprit, either. The new IE has its SmartScreen (I think that's what it's called) that scans downloaded files for ones it recognizes. It's blocked some of our software before for the same reasons.

Send an email to so we can take a look at what might be going on. Most likely, there's a rogue registry entry that's not playing nice.
I'll pass this along to the developers.
Not true. MS will still support XP until 2014.
Not the 64-bit version. That was swept under the carpet a while ago. Didn't even get SP3...
Make sure you activate all the extra features, otherwise Folder Portals won't be available:
These are all things we're looking into now. Feasible? Who knows, but we'll at least take a stab at it. :)
Two features worth looking into. [e digicons][/e]
That context menu is still there, and if you right click in the very bottom left corner, it will still show, as well as still being able to be displayed by pressing Win+X. Not sure how possible Metro apps on the taskbar is, as Microsoft has gone to great lengths to keep Metro at least somewhat sandboxed. Certainly worth looking into, though.
Not bad ideas, to be sure. I'll add them as suggestions to our system.
If I remember correctly, we recently tracked down and fixed some VM related bugs, which should be in the pipe for the next update. They were clipboard related, so chances are they'll address this as well. Not sure on the ETA for that update, but should be soon.
The lack of the blur effect is probably the biggest difference between the visual look of Start8 and the Vista/7 start menus, so that's probably what you're sensing.

There is a whole host of options available by right clicking on the Start8 button. Take a look, and play around with them, and see what fits your use case best.
It would be nice to have separate 'Vista' and 'Win7' skins. In Win7, the Start button said "start',while in Vista it's the orb in Start8. It should work if installed over the old version, though I believe it will require a reboot.
