Word DOC File Icons Gone in MyColors Stardock Forums

After uninstalling MyCOLORS, all Word 97-2003 format DOC files in my system (and those I receive as email attachments) now have a blank icon (2007 format DOC files are okay) rather than a word DOC icon. They open and can be edited okay, but I want the original icons back. I have tried using "Open with..." to re-associate them with Word, but to no avail. Any ideas?
