Just a question, why "rewriting" the Iron engine, when you had that Nitrous (Ashes) engine? I always thought that one would be used for Sins II and that you developed it not just for Ashes, but your other future games as well - including Sins. Not that i care or anything, just being curious. Regarding UI visuals - i dont think you need to reinvent to wheel there, Rebellion´s UI was just fine. You can maybe somewhat modernize it, but no need to completely change it, when

I realize this is not the most important thing at this point, its not even the most important thing for me personally, but reading the PCgamer article and seeing the part where diplomacy improvement and dealing with NPC factions get mentioned... - just wanted to ask for these (minor factions) to be actually fully fleshed out, this time around. By that i mean, not to be just variation of the basic 3/6 factions with some specific tech (that only does some buff/debuff type of thing, so i

To be honest, i expected more, given the time it took to write that down :-D anyway, it looks good, cant wait to play it in a week! one little nit-pick, dont make windows to have team color, there is enough red on the model as is. Instead, have something like yellowish/blue for TEC, blue or purplish for Advent and green or red for Vasari.

I do think you should wait for some playable version of the game to be released before doing any judgements. From what has been shared so far, its near impossible to predict whether the game will be just Rebellion on newer engine with moving turrets and planets, or some deeper gameplay changes and additions are going to be done. I certainly hope for the latter (though it does have limits, i dont want the game fundamentally change into something else), even if most people here would be

100 percent agreed on the planet-related stuff, the height map is too much, the planet looks almost comically small, truly like something from Spore or some other cartoony game. This needs to be tuned to look more realistic. The rest, i am unsure yet, will need to see it live, i guess. One thing for sure, Kol could use more of those turrets to feel like capital ship, it has barely more of them than Kodiak. I dont mind the other visual changes to it i guess, mostly, but it kinda lacks

[quote who="skalnor" reply="16" id="3864917"] For me, it was the lack of economic variety and the advent/vasari rebels. . Every faction was build miners and develop planets at their core with a few tricks here or there. The vasari felt too established to be a mobile civilization and the advent seemed to just accept that the economic aspect was going to be suffering. When you get the logistic slot upgrade and a slice of all trades for the TEC only then did the economy side feel good.&nbsp

Not sure what is the issue with Vasari Loyalist Titan acting as capital. You say yourself there is an unwritten etiquette, but even people not playing as VL can decide not to follow it. And then you have to do "boring mechanical bombing" of every enemy planet, as you say. With VL Titan it can at least be interesting and not boring - while it can move, it cant run indefinitely, with clever teamwork you can cut its escape routes and corner it. All in all, i disagree, its essential

First of all, i am so happy after long wait, we are finally getting new Sins game. Rebellion is my most favourite game ever, even beating the masterpiece that Homeworld is, so thank you for making it happening. Cant wait for 27th October. Now onto the relevant stuff: I did read the PC Gamer article and the way it was worded, it seems to me as if you are starting with one of the 3 main factions and then branch into loyalist/rebel in game. Is this true or did i misundersta

I did read on Steam that apparently Brad already announced Ashes 2 unofficially on Ashes boards or wherever.... yet we only got some vague promise that something is being worked on, more than a year ago. Its deeply disappointing. Luckily, there is Homeworld 3 and Falling Frontier coming this year - if Stardock does not want my money, it will be spent on those.

So its that time of year again, i am bit bored right now, so i thought why not, here comes my obligatory topic about TV shows i watched last year. Perhaps someone will take my recommendation and will watch something off my list, or recommend something himself, like some of the things being tossed around in the last years thread, i then proceeded to watch, like for example: Man in the High Castle - i did watch Season 1 few years ago. Was bit indifferent towa

Just now, i tried to run the game again, just on my own, and its still f-ed up, even on menu, or if i start single player game. I tried to run a mod, i was using before (theRemastered one with better graphics), and that doesnt affect it, still bad. Last time i ran the game, with that mod, maybe a year ago? - it ran flawlessly.

Hi there, just wanted to report rather unpleasant levels of lag and stuttering, while playing Sins multiplayer today with my friend over ICO. The issue seems to be not strictly multiplayer related though. This was for the first time i played the multi after quite some time, maybe five years or so. I used to play it with 2 other guys, not just one, playing bigger maps, playing more AIs and while it used to get somewhat laggy near the end of the games, i dont recall to be ever t
