I was really into the idea of ranking up, but I'm not sure now that I've realized that your division has nothing to do with who you're matched against. Just lost a ranked game where my team wasn't horrible... but the only Warmog's on our team was on the ADC so it was a bit frustrating. I looked at peoples ranked games played after and every opponent was hovering around 150 wins and every guy on our team was below 20. So... if you're in silver and have gold level super secr

My old theory was that I'd play support in ranked or fill in where needed, thus giving my teammates the best chance to play the roles they were best at. After getting busted down to Silver II, I'm throwing that method out the window. The two games I've played ADC (arguably my worst non jungle role) in ranked I've done really well personally and actually carried the last game I played in where we had a Volibear who was disconnected on and off, what felt like 50% of the time. <

You can't get demoted right away when you join a new division. You'll notice a little star like icon next to your name that signifies you're a "recruit" and means you can't be demoted... so I guess it's a great time to spam games to get a point cushion. I'm stoked on this new system too, it feels more rewarding. Also I really have enjoyed the two post placement games I played solo, but that could very well be a fluke. Everyone communicated well and played as a team, s

@Pacov It doesn't feel good being accused of acting obtuse and unreasonable, and then finding out the person who was giving me a hard time apparently hadn't even read what I wrote. I wouldn't have minded as much if you had just ignored everything I said, but I didn't like that you just glossed over what I was trying to explain, and then tried to make me feel like a jackass for suggesting something other than what you wanted to do.

Pacov: " Potential for unfair adv if you create the pick order and then also have your choice of which set you want." Posts I Made Previous To This: " So, one of us decides the pick order for the two teams, and the other chooses whichever he finds more appealing." Okay! Players in lobby: Pacov, Dynamo (Me!), Gotnades, Hedgie, Karl, Hunny, Khan, Sharp (Has new name that starts with K, don't de-friend her!), Gerdum, Knurstie. All these players I consider very solid even if they have varying skill levels and role diversity, so I just say "Normal Pick Order" which is 1 - 2,3 - 4,5 - 6,7 - 8. You then decide if you'd prefer to pick 1st, 4th, 5th, and 8th... or if you'd rather pick 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th. We pic

The nature of these games makes proving anything when we " try my simple request and see how it goes" problematic. Did one team give up first blood in an invade? Did Cow decide to not be a top tier mid and go jungle Heimer instead? Did one team allow their weakest player to go top instead of playing the only role they could have been competitive in? Did someone decide they wanted to see if Support Elise was still a thing after her nerfs? If a game like this

My Wallstop/Rawr example is not at all hypothetical. A player of their caliber will join us occasionally, and when there isn't someone good or bad enough to balance them out, the game is decided in champ select. The impact of these certain players seems obvious to most people I talk to, but I realize you don't press Tab in game so perhaps you don't notice when Rawr is at 16/4 KD ratio? Even when a plat isn

"Perhaps I've misunderstood you, but you are aware that we'd swap champ selection roles each game? Game 1 you are 1,3,5,8, game 2 I am 1,3,5,8." If Wallstop or Rawr or some other platinum or pro is playing both games without any player of equivilent skill level to balance him out, then Game 1 my team wins and Game 2 your team wins. If Sins is playing and everyone else is around the same skill level, then Gam

Yeah, I think my original idea where one person divides up the teams and the other captain picks which team he wants was great... in theory. When it came down to actually doing it however, I felt I needed a bunch of pictures and a board to pin them on like in those shows like Homeland or The Wire to figure out what good teams would be. I think deciding pick order would be a much simpler thing to do on the fly, and I'd be fine with figuring out what I think would be a fair order f

It may be the easiest, but it won't always be the most balanced Hedgie. If everyone is all pretty much at the same level, except Wallstop or another ace player is in the mix, then 1,4,5,8 will have the best team. On the flip side, if some one is in the game who is far less experienced than the rest of us, then 1,4,5,8 will have the losing team most likely IMO. Now with my way, I can look at the talent level and decide how to order the picks considering who the best and wor

I'm all for picking teams. Of course I will have to needlessly complicate the process, cause that's what I do. There are going to be 8 picks, and I think it's important to have a varied pick order. In other words it might be more fair to have one team get to have the 2nd and the 3rd picks if there is someone like Wallstop in the game and no Rawr to balance him out. It also works the other way if there is someone vastly less experienced. One team might nee

also - thunder - see this. Post is from today: Yeah I checked out that link and it looked slightly promising, though it almost sounded like a more recent short term issue that they were having. I checked back to see if there were any updates, but the post had completely disappeared. I'm thinking that if any Rioter openly admits that their servers had anything to do with lag, then they are consequently lined up a

20 Mbps Download and 2 Mbps Upload. Yeah doesn't sound like an upload problem... just four bar lag spikes, ice skating minions, etc. Hopefully I'll be able to figure something out when I get home, but it's been pretty aggravating when it wasn't as bad as yesterday. Knowing a day like yesterday could happen is going to take the enjoyment out of the game even when the spikes aren't bad enough to be game breaking.

Thanks for the advice, I'll give it a shot but I kinda doubt bandwidth is the issue. I checked my speed after upgrading and it seemed a solid 20 download/2 upload. Also, my roommate wasn't even home for the in house game where I was having the worst issues and said she was only listening to itunes during that earlier game we played. I guess Bitmeter makes sure the bandwidth stays consistent during gaming? <a href="http://na.league

I don't know if we could say for sure that our team adjustments were bad since I was lagging pretty heavily that game. There was one point where myself and a full health Sona were safely under our tower, when a lag spike hit. The minions started moving kinda funky and a few seconds later Graves and Taric magically appeared over Sona's corpse which was kinda frustrating. This was of course after a nightmare Xerath game I played, where I immediately drove to my ISP's office a

It's hard to pick balanced teams when there's new people thrown into the mix that we don't have a good feel of. The more regulars we start having for these games, the better the balance will be I think. Having said that, I have to disagree with the games being "lopsided" cause balance seemed pretty okay to me. Its tough to figure out how things are going sometimes cause we do tend to be focused on the success (or failure) of our own lanes in this game. Thing is that we bot

I don't/didn't view sharp as a weak link. Now, I'm not saying weak link to be a jerk or anything, but its like this - I know, of the people I play with regularly, what I can expect from folks in a given role. But I don't know that for folks I don't play with regularly. So, I didn't think there was some huge mismatch between bryff and sharp. For all I know, sharp's a solid mid. And really... that's all I know (eg not much about her skill level as a mid).

This approach sounds really nice, but I personally don't think is necessary. If I was under the impression that you had someone on your team that a single targeted ban would wreck, I'd probably do it. That's absolutely fine, though I will warn you that it might lead to us not being able to have in house games on occasion. Not sure if you remember my friend who was lagging a while back and we had to replace with Cow? He has abo

Yeah, I like to think some friendly banter if fine. It was just a bad situation that got us upset since our mid was being really hard on herself and taking way too much blame for the games going south. So it just left a bad taste in our mouths that comments to her were made at all, but especially by the person we've been avoiding doing a target ban on to help keep things from getting too unfriendly. I realize you do want fair games, which is why it took me by surprise that

We were having some personality conflicts on our team for all the games, but it came to a head on that last one. It was difficult to get any sort of cooperation going without feeling like we were pulling teeth, so we were all a bit distracted, which made it harder to hear how we failed tactically. Not making excuses cause you guys played a great game, and your strategy to counter what we were doing was terrific. Love having these in house games as well, and hopefully we can
