i love when someone bitches about a char being OP and it turns out they have tried to play this particular OP and just completely fail, frustrated that they cant harness the OP part themselves due to lack of skill then run to a forum to complain about it. That scenario is just gold my dears.
Deepjay
DOTA was always about getting the finishing blow and i pretty much agree with it as it adds a desperation factor in with the need to finish someone off. That being said, blatant killstealers can GF'd and have no place in my games. At least people DO get assists though it makes me wonder, do you get awarded an exist if say Regulus has just made a kill and you as Sedna or Queen of thorns have just shielded/healed him in order for him to stay alive long enough to make the kill? O
At least it's selling well, the more sales, the more players, the more free demigods and content the more smiles.
I doubt he will stop posting, but its unneccesary for him to give daily updates anymore. It was important to keep up a high level communication through the 'release storm' with the myriad of problems going on, but now that things are somewhat settled, regular contact would be good, but daily posts really arent neccessary - imo.
Yeah everytime I host I use something like 'pros only'. Never works.
This is exactly the problem - if you host a game called 3v3 pros or 3v3 no noobs, whatever, you will struggle to get players. I myself play with friends on an almost nightly basis and there is nothing worse than walking over another team, this is where demigod fails, it's pure tedium. However when we get a challenge and the game is hard fought and down to the wire
Good work - can you give any approximate details as to what kind of things could be changed/modified? Is it just stats/placement of things or could say someone step right in and possibly create their own art/models etc? Bring on a version of the dota map imo!
I can actually see a wow playing ignoring his house on fire if it meant not having to log out.
Well knowing people and their histories makes a difference and i think the new 1.1 is trying to add ways of differentiating between someone who has disconnected and someone who has purposelly quit - and besides, you can usually always tell when someone is doing it on purpose as they'll be losing and/or dying and well, it's just obvious. Connection issues tend to be completely random though of course some would coincidentally happen if the team is losing. I have no issue
People who rage quit arent neccessarily assholes ingame, they might be fine, they're just people who crack the sads and cant handle losing. Sure we all get teammates who do frustrating things - like purchasing priests early or capping the side portals on certain maps allowing the other team to farm the minions but blech, what can you do? Play with friends or familar people is about the only reason to solve that. It's when you have a close and somewhat intense game
The problem isnt the obvious - i mean selecting a demigod and clicking to move, nice one, even my cat worked that out. The problem is describing the gameplay to someone not familar with DOTA. At a glance it can be confusing and not overly intuitive to work out how it works - ie utilising your own creeps vs theirs etc. This thread fails.
They could continue to attract customers if they went by Valve's smart model with TF2. If they added new demigods, maps and features on a regular basis and took the time to really get behind it and market it, the new sales from new customers who come following the interest trail would pay for it alone. That and the fact that when they then unleash an expansion pack most of those customers would then likely buy it. You cant underestimate how m
I dont understand what the problem is anyway, it's not like they're hard to kill.. Lately, and i reckon increasingly, i have been finding my own summons sticking to corners across the other side of the map, freakin nightmare - particularly when you cant desummon them to re-summon. If they cost mana you should be able to de-summon them at any time to re-summon imo.
No it doesnt happen EVERY game, but it does happen enough that i try and take note of the leaver as whatever their reason, if they have quit for a rage related reason (the usual case) then i will make every effort to disclude them from games going forward. And yeah it is a benefit to have a smaller community, it isnt so easy to hide. One interesting thing though - I played several games last night WITH Lashiec and he was fine - i guess we all have
Yes rage quitting is fine, I don't understand why the other 7 people left in the game are phased when one person has a tanty and bails on them, effectively ruining the game; unless you count having one team with a stupid, farmable ai, a GG.
My point is regardless, it's just another form of rage-quitting and unless you condone rage-quitting, it's retarded. I made the cat excuse up as an example, believer. It's a direct result of rage-quitting being so commonplace that people are becoming more creative in creating exit points - ie omg sudden magical lag ALT-F4
Now that rage quitting has been discussed until the cows come home I am finding that in custom games, particularly where there's a smaller community(such as with Australian players), it's not so easy to remain anonymous and people who ragequit get remembered and punted out of games. Players are not just simply being assholes now and bailing, they're coming up with convenient reasons. Ugh sorry guys, this Sedna suddenly says last night as their team is getting spanked, my screen is lik
I agree with this map. We had an almost identical situation as the OP though WE were the team pressed back to the Citadel. We just camped and farmed gold and XP then while bristling with artifacts ran out and smashed their Citadel even under their defensive tower fire, taking it out while they had ours down to 5k/58k. The point was it took 1 hour and 11 minutes to conclude. We werent giving up and neither were they. IMO the poor design is it's way too big
Look well done, seriously. That most recent patch, a night ago or whatever it is really has kicked ass. Played in three seperate 4v4's last night and i kept fanboying it up in ALL chat saying how i couldnt believe how smooth it was. To date, 3v3's have been the only way for us(in australia at least) to get smooth games - ie no animation jerkiness which comes from latency/lag. The first 4v4 was smooth as silk and i was thoroughly impressed. The second not as good but sti
Have played the game since released and had many frustrations, but over the last few weeks it has come a long way. It is a terrific game which i hope gets more and more players to it, i certainly reccomend it - and even did during the 'dark days' with a 'warning bad connection problems' disclaimer attached. With a few new demigods, and some extra maps in the most popular brackets of 2v2/3v3/4v4 it will be an absolute cracker.
Tried any 4v4 or 5v5's yet? Smoother?
nice idea
I usually find that most upgrades are useless. Games are pretty predictable - one team will go priests if they're stupid allowing the other team to farm them for extra Xp and gold. The priest upgrade will mean that that team will have an advantage as far as how far forward their minions are pushing and that can really hurt the other team on bigger maps as they're penned into their side of the map.. however What normally happens is the other team is farming the minions and enem
I detect sarcasm.
Stuns own you ive you get jumped by a 2v1 sitatuation however if you see one coming you should get the hell away from it unless you have tower support or something that'll discourage them chasing you too aggressively.
There's no catapultsaurus in Chess thx - and if there were, i'd prolly be playing Chess instead.
