If there is one single UI improvement to be had, it is the list sorting mechanic-- it doesn't work. And some sorts don't "stick", either. Very frustrating. If I leave a screen and come back to it, I don't want to have to re-sort the list. Thank you for all your hard work. I very much look forward to your improvements in future releases, Richard

Thanks for the info...
I just received a 1.2GB update. What's that all about? TIA, Richard
I don't know if it's my imagination but turns seem to be going by much faster than in the past. That's a good thing. :-) Is the AI more aggressive in this version? It seems that way. On the downside, the turn information on the left is still disappearing. Thanks, SD, for all your work, Richard
Question 1: How do most of you all play in terms of pacing settings and why? For me its very simple, the game takes painstakingly too long to play without the fastest settings. Maybe the colony management and tile adjacency is what sucks the most time away but more on that later. I leave it at normal speed. Question 2:<span style="mso-spacer
I didn't find an ideology called Prominence 3. Where is that?
...Three is finished.
No, it's not. They might be done working on it but it is not finished. ;-(
@ Orombra3373 I'm pretty sure it already does that with the exception of default settings. If you create a new civ/leader with all the abilities/traits, galaxy settings/options, victory cond
@Falkoner This is ongoing and was reported many moons ago. As usual, SD has chosen to ignore this along with many other complaints along the way. They actually did fix a few things maybe a year ago but that was after years of complaints by dedicated fans of this game (myself included). I've basically given up on any hopes of this game ever getting upgraded to anything that resembles a professional level. It's all in the details, SD. Second verse, same as th
Thanks, Falkoner. I still can't imagine 22 planets servicing a single shipyard. That sounds incredible to me... I will have to try those settings and see what happens.
It very well could have been fixed. I haven't tried it in so long, I don't really know. I had never heard of the Artifact approach either.
Fascinating... With Kiln of Worlds, do you get to choose the planet? How close does it have to be to your Shipyard to be auto-added as a sponsor? How did you manage to find a planet with that many dead worlds within range? You've gotten me excited about trying this out -) Sounds like a lot of fun.
You don't have to use an Artifact to accomplish this. Build a shipyard in a two or more planet system Don't colonize the planets in that system Colonize other planets within a reasonable range and add them to your sponsor list Now, if you colonize the local planets, they will automatically be added to the sponsor list (even if there are more than five) so do them last I've had up to seven this way, although, one could probably have
@Phuck... "Also -- how do I change my stardock forum name? I made it when I was frustrated at the lack of support 7 years ago and never posted but there appears to be no way to change it. " I have been asking for this for years and have never been able to get a working solution.
Hi Tatiora, I have been a GalCiv player since the early v2 days. It has always been a go-to game for me and I have spent many hundreds (thousands?) of hours playing it. It is a wonderful pastime but I do have one big gripe-- the latest versions are buggy. The list is too long to cover here but don't take my word for it. The forums willl offer a long tirade of issues that have never been addressed. Some are simplistic but others are a definite downgrade when compare
I am very tempted to download these now. Thanks for the list!
I'd be interested in seeing it. Gotta a screenshot?
I do the same with the planet list. I prefix specialized planets with, for example, R, to indicate a research planet, and so on... GC2 did a much better job with lists.
Try changing the size of the user interface in the settings. I'm just guessing...
I have complained about the UI for ages. One of the things that really torques my engine is the list sorting mechanism. In the old GC2, there was a wonderful sorting mechanism. It worked like this: You sorted a list. Then you left the list to do something else. Then you came back to the list and it was still sorted just the way you left it. Beautiful! Now, you have to re-sort the list(s) every time you visit them. What a PITA. The lists in GC2 were much better. P
Don't bother with food in the beginning. You will need that later to build cities. Each city will cost four food to construct. Each unimproved food tile equals one food. What you should be thinking about is infrastructure and colonizing as many good quality planets that you can as soon as possible. People vary, but I think a good quality planet these days is size 10 or higher. You can backfill the smaller ones later. Try to create rings of similar buildings to take advantage o
I wanted to see how long I could go without war, or a navy.
You'll need tons of Diplo for that, won't you? Some Civs don't seem to consider diplomacy at all... Any other useful Techs for that pacific goal?
What I usually end up doing is buying strong ships from the Bazaar if I see that other civs are wanting to "conquer the galaxy" before I manage to build up a respectable fleet. Simply keeping your hit points comparable seems to begin to give them a "message". Get them high enough and even the Drengin will start to respect you a little bit more.
Thanks for the info!
On turn 70. Since then, I ran the file validation option at Steam and it has been working fine ever since. There is nothing wrong with my system that I am aware of, however, if I check the file validation, it many times seems to say that the validation has failed. This is not unique to GC3, either. It happens with most of the games I play from Steam. I don't know what make of that. Thank you for your attention, Richard
