My latest skin has a fairly elaborate design in the start menu, though on the surface it may not seem so. It was pretty tricky getting the lines and shading to line up properly. The advice I would offer would be too lengthy here. Try downloading the skin and examining it in SKS and see if it helps. https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?skinid=6929&libid=1 Oh, and don't forget your context margins. Those will h
Here ive made a nice little picture tut. First make sure your slices line up, when having done slices zoom in to check if they are pixel correct and not overlapping or have gaps, you can notice this when you export and have 6 images instead of the 5. You dont have to copy my margins, they are correct for my graphics. Except the concept of the bottom margin and moreprog if you want an even stretch
I hate to be a pain, but upon closer examination, I noticed a number of things: I initially didnt completely follow Voidcores instructions as I thought I did. I hadn't set the Top (UserPane), Bottom bar, and more Programs Margins to "Center Middle Section" and "Center (True Size, no margin)" I left them at "Stretch Middle Section" and "Paint Using Margins". I DID however, make sure to first, delete each sections codes, re-import each part, and enter each sections dimensions
np, glad it worked out... now you only have 100-200 more pics to make for a whole blind.. ill see you soon
lol. Thanks for the reminder [e digicons];P[/e]
First go to extra tab and insert every pics dimensions. Then do an APPLY se if it lines up. Then margins. Top, bottom and moreprogs can have true size dont touch the margins. Programs list put 10 in bottom margin, and lets say 40px top looks like a somewhat stretch friendly place. Places list margins bottom is more progs height plus 10.... this is so it will stretch from the same place as programs list. Repor
Whatever was in there before will leave code in the "Code Editor" section of Skin Studio. Before you import your graphics, go to the "Code Editor" section in Skin Studio 6 in the start menu section and delete everything that is in there; there will be a bunch of lines of text -- delete them out, and that will give you the fresh start that I believe you're looking for, and your graphics should import correctly.
I use the slice tool to map out the various sections of the Start Panel. Once the slices are positioned where I want them, how do I cut each section and save it as it's own image?
k10w3: Thanks for the info on how to clear the codes. I'll give it a try and post results. Thanks again.
Voidcore: I would prefer not to stretch the Statr Panel, as I would like to keep the original details intact. I tried setting the H x W for each part to the h x w of each corresponding image's h x w. But still no luck. I'll try your suggestion of setting the margins on placeslist to 40px (from bottom), setting more programs to truesize, and setting programs list to 10px (from bottom) .
vStyler: How do I delete all the code? Can I simply set each part to "No Image", then re-import each pieces' image? And I didnt overlap any margins. But for some reason, there seems to be a slight overlapping where the Programs list meets with the Places List (they dont blend smoothly lthe way they should. About slicing. I found that Photoshop CS2 does a crappy job with slicing. When sectioning off the various start panel parts (with snap-to guides set) and selecting them with the rectangular

I actually found a way, Well, it's more of a Hack. For anyone who'd like to change the default font in xP, here's the reg fix: This describes how to restore the default to Tahoma font. But I used this to simply set the default to whatever font I choose (the font has to first already be installed in C: WINDOWS, Font folder). I set it to Zegoe (the Zune HD font) http://www.
I am trying to change the font of these two areas of my Start Menu to the Zune HD Font (aka: Zegoe). But no matter what I've tried, nothing works. I have successfully changed the More/All Programs the Font aswell as the Explorer Title bar and pop up menu fonts but thats all. PLEASE help! I'm willing to do anyting to change thses fonts. Additionally, is this something that Stardock will include in newer versions? Why they left the ability to customize these two areas (Programs and Places Lists
Question: I've already purchased Windowblinds 6.4 a WHILE ago. Will this be a free upgrade to those of us who've had Windowblinds 6.4 for a while. or will it only be a free upgrade for those who purchase Windoblinds 6 from this point on?
Close up to show the details. I created this carbon fiber detail from scratch. It's one of the available taskbars in a STyle I am creating for WB. Still a work in progress
Here's a Taskbar I made. If you want the .png, let me know where I can email it
And it does work. VStyler was suggesting that you actually edit the skin graphic. Trust me, it works quite well.
I wasn't saying that Vstyler's method doesn't work. I was saying that my suggestion about editing it in WB's clour section wouldnt work.
Go to Edit Start Menu and Taskbar, Select Horizontal Taskbar (Unless ofcourse you want to edit the vertical taskbar), Select Background under the Horizontal heading, under the Image Tab click Edit image and the image should automatically open in the default graphic that is set to open that particular file type (.jpg, .png, .tga, .bmp). In my case, they're all set to open in Photoshop CS2 -- (makes life easier). Then, once its opened in your graphic program, simply edit to whatever color you l
Nix that WB colour idea. It doesn't work

That looks like an older version of Skinstudio. My menus dont look like the one u posted.
Couldn't he just adjust the color in WB's color section? That would change the color scheme of the entire style, however, but it would be the easiest way.
My method: Set the slices where I wanted for each part, rectangle tool (with slice guides on) for each part, crop, save as .... "wash, rinse, repeat" 4x more. lol! imported each into SKS and slight margin adjustments.... Done! You guys are the best!
SUCCESS!!!!!!! Thank you all for all of your help! Stardock Forums Rock!
I just dont want to be reliant on other ppl's work, as I would like to one day be a master at this stuff.
1. Open each start menu piece in Photoshop. Do this by clicking the edit button for each piece in SKS. 2. Piece them all together on 1 document in PS That's precisely what I did with Diamond. What I did was open those images in PS and then basically filled the entire canvas with green. That gave me the precise size of that section. Then I dragged that into
