Alright this would be my first post on balance issues. The game is too fresh in early access to really say a lot about specific balance issues in normal (Manager) games, there are good ways to win the game, but it's never really certain. It depends a lot on the map, your oponents and the market fluctuations - all the variety that we players love for replayability. Which brings me to my issue, that variety is severely lacking in CEO games, and some of the things will
But really about the frustrating ending, I'm more or less just saying that having a fullscreen pink buyout coupon is a bit anticlimatic after a whole game of stress. [e digicons]:)[/e] To clarify my other idea was that when you buy someone else stocks (grey, unbought ones), could he receives the money? Really like, investing in his company so giving him money in exchange of some stock. That would be a bonus to loosing playe
1) Infrastructure: If water requires power to move, the power cost to get water industries going should increase as you move away from power infrastructure. If you lose 0.5 points of power per ten tiles then there would be a game play decision associated with the diminishing returns of building far from home, and far from use areas.
That is already taken into account, but it's not the electricity costs that increases but the fuel
On one of the streams it was noticed that when you buy someone out your stock price fell slighty. This was seen as being a bug but given how the end game works I would not be so quick to throw that effect out. If your stock price fell after you buy someone out it makes buying someone out a more interesting proposition, and in some situations might turn into a mexican stand-off of sorts between the top two (three) players: who dares

The recent UI change that causes the main UI to be hidden when you press enter to write a chat message is actually - bad, in my opinion. The game doesnt stop when you try to communicate, and typing a longer message can take a bit of time. You have no idea what's going on while you're writing the message. The previous patch you could see what's going on, that was better, in case you have to react to something you'll know. Would it be possible to revert the
As it stands you can pay off $50k debt and your stock price goes up 30c. I don't think it's relevant enough, bearing in mind I haven't tried CEO yet. Also. if someone buys you out that leads to snowball and one corporation gets access to all the claims wheras if you owned shares in the company that is bought out and you missed the buyout you only get a bit of cash. Whoever just clicks buyout gets too
It would also be nice to understand how the price for off world resources is calculated. I normally find that food, o2 and fuel bring in $500K+ prices (and are easy to create). Thus I build these resources at L3/L4 prior to getting my off world launchers, and I build these resources even if their current on world market price is low. The off world prices for these resource seem to have no connection to the actual market
es it's a huge production advantage when an opponent takes over another corporation. You just can't compete when they have twice the stuff. This comes back to there being the one victory condition. Just thinking out loud, but maybe if there was a resource population (that grows with food/life support/electronics and you can get additional claims as your pop grows to compete through vertical supremacy by organically growin

In Multiplayer there is no "sudden end" - You have all the information to see when you're doomed or to see what's coming. In other RTS you actually it's not as straight forward to see when you have lost or when you still stand a fighting chance. If you know where to look, it's pretty clear in Offworld in most cases. Let's compare Map Vision The entire map is revealed, you can see everything your opponents do. In any other RTS

No they weren't grayed out. They were cyan, and other people were buying my stock and eachother's stock. I was losing because people could buy my stock and I couldn't defend myself.

The new chat functionality that the UI is hidden might have some strange side effect. I was unable to purchase stock from players, or sell it, I was going to lose the game, until I wrote a chat message informing others of the bug, then the controls became functional again.

After I lost and clicked on observe there were only 2 players left. They were both chatting, but I only saw the host's messages. The other player's messages did not show up at all.
But my real question comes from how the game deals with the Scientific ability and dual-input factories. It's not clear at all, and a little guidance on the matter would help quite a bit.
Theoretically if the ground has both input resources then your factory wont need any, otherwise it wont need any of the resource the ground has and you will have to provide the other. The likelyhood of a tile having two resources is a

So I have seen this twice now since the last patch, not before ... I was inside a lobby, the host started the game but I was chatting, and I was hitting the backspace button on the loading screen that shows up for less than a second for regular players. There was a cancel button, maybe that activated it somehow? Either way the result was that I was left staring at a blank screen of the background image, no black loading screen nothing, ESC didn't get me b
As for supplying buildings, unfortunately, the code has to make a judgement call about when to send the blimp and how much to fill it. (Do you always want it leave full? What if you only have 5 units of X? Should it factor in distance?) It's the type of thing that is hard to get exactly right, and I think the answer is usually better building placement. Have said that, if you have a video that shows a really bad resupply thing, pl

I can see that getting the tech for free might be OP and casue a snowball have you considered just unlocking the tech and making it re se

I think people get very heated up about this arguing about the wrong thing. I have said before that scientists are probably the strongest, but this is ALWAYS situational. Every faction has their advantage and disadvantage. The BIGGEST advantage that makes scientists better than all the other factions is the blackmarket 50% damage reduction, hands down. No economical bonuses taken into account, that's what sets them apart, because blackmarket actions do get expensive

1) Building options screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/YCC8R5X.jpg As you can see the buttons are minimalistic, they are barely twice the size of my mouse pointer, and they're all next to eachother, its already hard enough to read the text, well I know which one does what. But it happens in every single game that I misclick on scrapping the building instaed of shipping production. I'm competitive and I micro production when need

Actually pirates would be much less of a problem
problem with CEO difficulty is... early pirates, some bad luck, or just bad players can kill one pretty fast (=increasing his debt to unmanageable amounts) and then its no more a matter of cash to buy him out, but a matter of the ping. Whoever gets him has pretty much won since the extra claims are worth sooo much more good side is... youll probably never see a off world

4 Replies 4,262 Views

You read it. Having everyone set themselves to CEO difficulty actually creates a different game, it's so much more interesting. After having tried it, it's hard to go back to manager, so much more dynamic, and every debt you take is just that much harsher. Debt penalty increased from 3x (Manager) to 7x. 40-60% (?) less resource gains. 50% increased cost for buildings (steel type material only? not sure...) It's great fun, and very harsh

(2) Already happens, if someone buys out a player that you have stock in, you get refunded for that. Twice its worth I believe, that'd be an estimate, given that it takes twice the worth to buyout stocks, I'd assume that's what you're paid. (3) You can hover over resource usage on the left, see what's using them. So when you just have the colony and nothing else, it shows just that. It shows the increased usage when you hover over the upgrade button.
