I am definitely a fan of this. Also, being able to give other empires ships and planets will help those cases where in a 2v2 it accidentally becomes a 1v1 as one player on each side is nearly or completely eliminated. Lets not leave our friends twiddling their thumbs. One of my friends refused to play starcraft against me, because I "always double teamed him first" (even though races are randomly assigned and I had no idea who was who)

Yeah, I have to babysit a bit to kill specific targets, but the reason they default to that I think is because it is hugely effective in a standup battle. Look at the weapon effectiveness grid: fighters do 4 times the damage to bombers that they do to almost everything else (double the damage they do to other fighters), and because almost everything else tends to miss strikecraft are one of the very few things that are very effective against other strikecraft.
That command just zips it again - (you should notice that the "folder" icon at your destination has a zipper). Instead double click on the archive to open it in whatever program (or windows) and choose to "extract" the contents to your target location.
I'd prefer it if minefields were just implemented as a ship. A ship that was stealthed, very difficult to damage (new type that all weapons except scouts were very ineffective against), very slow moving, and had a damage aura. Keeps everything much tidier.
I completely agree. When my brother and I play it's always a tough call to decide wether or not we have definitely "won" and can safely exit without missing out on a couple final epic battles with some hidden fleet. A couple things would definitely help with that (and fit nicely into the next diplomacy xpac): - an obvious readout at the top showing resource income, fleet strength, and culture strength so we can eyeball progress - the galactic rumor mill ought to
I ran into nv4_disp bluescreens (in a different context, not Sins) a while back. As far as I can tell, most are triggered by 3d games making use of your nvidia card, and there being some sort of driver or memory error. Often it can be that the memory aperture assigned by the BIOS does not match the amount of memory the card is trying to use, or bad memory. Run memtest, and check your BIOS settings, and update your video drivers.
Ugh - the left side thing is crowded enough with just planets, satellites and ships. I'd rather mines be considered an intrinsic effect of the system, like the ateroids and gas pockets. They deal persistant damage to enemy vessels on the move, as they are expended. Let scout ships and clearing ships be able to avoid/deal with them, but don't make us manually manage everything.
Thank you for all the folks who provided me answers (quickly too). For all the other people seeking info - http://www.soasewiki.com has a lot of good info, following are my questions and the answers I got. 1- Still looking for good current replays. Entrenchment replays from beta shouldbe out soon, and I'll hit google for some 1.12 replays. As for build order, it was recommended (thanks psyck0) to buy 100 crystal, upgrade homeworld population, build cap ship factory
I just want to report that I bought this game to play with my brother, and although we don't have a lot of free time to play it, (only played 3 games together and 2 solo so far) it has been working great and easy to set up. We played once using our cellphones (free family calling), once on my wow guild's vent server (there's a reason I don;t have much time to play sins), and once on his spare PC. In every case I just needed to install the game through impulse and make sure the
A lot of netbooks are 1024x600. My EEE is. Please consider this.
My brother and I are old Moo/galciv/RTS fans, and I signed up here in preparation to buy Sins. I was scouting this forum out for multiplayer infos, hoping it would have good team support. Dissappointed to hear the only win condition is total annihilation, especially if elimination is much slower here than in other RTS, like starcraft. They should take a page from other strategy games and give at least a pre-game option that if one team has a commanding lead militarily, e
