You think a person's level of expertise or experience doesn't matter? If someone has been playing strategy games for 20 years, wouldn't you trust their opinion more than a guy who has never played one before? If a reviewer has a degree in mathematics, would his or her opinion on the stats and balance of a game not be worth more than someone who is awful at math?

Here's a fact: Most gaming "journalists" aren't even thorough and skilled enough to notice the things that Tom Chick is writing about. So really, Chick's eventual review will probably be a great indicator of how good the game is.
It'd be so cool if the game would appropriately pick from a huge list of landmarks and adjectives to automatically name a region of the map. Stardock, you gotta make this happen! Just imagine, the game detects a mountain range with a river in between and intelligently picks from the list to name it something like: "The Gleaming Shards"
Great deal. But sadly, not for us Canadians. :( Buy.com is totally legit, nice find.

Stardock folks, any way I can pay with paypal and still play tomorrow (after the beta-testers of course)? I will pay with an instant payment, no need for preorder charge AFTER release.
Seriously, don't ever use PayPal.
I use paypal because it's a convenient way to be paid from eBay sales. And I don't keep cash on there, I just use it as a payment method. On top of that, I've never had a problem in all my years of using it, so I'm okay with it.
It'll be gold. 0-day is on the release date.
So... I just tried to purchase the game and I can't pay for preorders with paypal. :( Why not?

He is talking about the story, not the amount of missions in the campaign. I loved the campaign, it was a lot of fun, but it was far from being a complete story.
Quoting Frogboy, reply 6It took me about 5 hours to complete it. That's with me knowing how to play the game of course. I'd expect a typical user it would take them about 8 hours. Interesting, so the 6 hour claim by the anonymous poster was truthful then. Thank you for the confirmation, even though I had different expectations for the campaign.
8 hours seems short for a single player campaign, but rem

Not to say that it not being available now violates that agreement, since they already announced the end of the beta.

Well, I'm just gonna buy the digital version, no big deal. I would have loved the box and manual though. Oh well, the game is what matters. Plus, no taxes which is a good perk.
Just an update folks. I called EB earlier in the day and they still don't have it in their system. So, that kinda sucks. :(
This is the very same reason I bought Galactic Civilizations II without knowing much about it. It caught my interest, I only had to read a few blog posts and forum threads and I said to myself "yup, these guys have earned my money". EDIT: Oh and if you didn't figure it out already, I didn't regret it. GalCiv2 turned out to be one of the best 4x games ever.

That's a core feature I don't get while buying the same thing at the same price. That is the problem, not a sense of "entitlement". Erm, you're not. The Collector's Edition for Civ V is what comes with Babylon, alongside a behind the scenes video and
First of all, let me just say that the game looks phenomenal and there's a very good chance you'll be receiving a paypal payment from me in the near future. The reason I made this thread was because I am happy that there are no preorder bonuses for this game. No exclusive items, or trinkets, or skins, or armor, or anything. Thank you! I'm just sick and tired of this tactic used by developers. Why should a person who just happens to buy the game later be punished? Is that gamer
