It never seemed very useful to me. Even if you attack with 40 scouts at once they tend to stack thier explosives on just a few structures. It gets rid of frigate factories and the like very effectively but to get the most out of the skill you really have to go in and target stuff manually. It would be a much better skill if scouts used it in a "drive by" fashion the same way they drop sensor probes.

So? Playing a game that isn't fun is also work. But work with a purpose can be fun, you never know.
It would be nice to have some official word regarding this. But given that they have such a small team they are probably all busy filling the awesome quota of the next expansion. So until then I guess we could just put all idea posts in the general forum. The beta feedback forum should be kept clear for when the next beta starts.
loading screens: hm, an incentive to get entrenchment. enticing, a good idea. still, for the most part, I think people would find it confusing. they would have to manuipulate the art with something like 'check out the features of our expansion pack'. then it could work.
Well they could just add the entrenchment logo and name as a watermark in the bottom corner of those images. This would make it very clear that they come from Entre
Work in progress! I have a pretty good idea where I am going with this, so check back for updates. EDIT: I'm told people are having a hard time reading the story and other parts due to length. This is a pain for me because I read quite fast and I am a very poor judge of appropriate post length. So just let me know if you want me to cut them into smaller chunks. --- One thing I noticed while playing Sins is that the gameplay is very str
Weeha, sound like fun!
You DO realise the consequences of spamming your personal information (and credit card number no less) all over the internet right?
The superweapons are far from useless and don't need to be any more dangerous. 3 novalith cannons are an I-win button that blasts your opponents planets one by one. And nothing can stop it. However they are kind of hum drum in that they don't get to do anything else. The Novalith can boost a payload through phase space for example. So what else could we carry besides firecrackers?
I've had it happen many times so far. The AI tends to surrender if you capture thier capital. Otherwise they will only give up if the odds are really really hopeless.
Put in a second column beside the first. Put ships jumping in phase at the botton and put fleets at the top. Plenty of room for both. This way you never have to scroll up to find your fleets and ships in phase/joining or leaving fleets will no longer cause the empire tree to jerk around.
Thats really strange. TEC have a max tier technology that causes rebel (pirate essentially) forces to attack enemy planets under influence of your culture. These forces warp in "from nowhere" and they are hostile to everyone. But that doesn't quite explain things because those rebels are on a specific non-pirate team, they don't travel between planets and they certainly don't activate the bounty screen.
Whenever I fire up a free for all with all hard AIs the computers gang up on me EVERY SINGLE TIME. It not that they all choose to pick on me at once. I mean 3-5 fleet jump in the second I leave a planet defended. All from the same phase lane, all at the same time. They seem to ally together so they must have diplomacy between themselves independant of me.
I would suggest the Avernum series as well as the Generforge series. The first couple games in each are showing thier age now but they are still great fun. The company that makes them is Spiderweb software and they have a very long history of cool rpg games.
Nice effort. You might want to use the list button to condense some of those and make them easier to read. Its the third button on the left under the font selector. Stardock forums force double spacing between paragraphs and when you list things in seperate lines it tends to balloon your post length.
The thing is, the start of every Sins game is very slow and they always take on the same pattern. What player would roll out of his home planet without first building at least one scout and his free cap ship. As well advanced start gives you more resources and prebuilds some structures. This actually gives you more strategies to use. So it seems that there is no reason whatsoever NOT to use advanced start, if I turn it off I spend the first few minutes of any game building up to that point an
Sup guys, after listening to Blair on the Gamers with Jobs podcast I decided to pony up 10 bucks (that was $12.34CAN, no joke!) and get back into Sins. I first bought Sins a little while after visiting PAX and the Stardock booth. When I heard Entrenchment was coming around I dropped the game in favour of others because I knew I would be relearning all over again with the updated mechanics. Well about a week has gone by and I have been having a blast. The game has huge potential and th
Mid to late 70's, my dad bought the home version of pong.
Ah! I remember that, played it once at electronics summer camp.
Even just skimming thread titles I can see that we have 4 front page suggestion posts in the General forum and another 6 in the Beta Feedback forum.
I remember that game! I like it but I really hated how long it took to get things moving. It took ages and AGES, hundreds of turns just to pop out one star destroyer. That poster was awesome...
I have played so damn many I can't recall where it all began. But I know for a fact that my first was dos based.
Thanks for making me feel old.
Me too. Every now and then I drop the name of a really old game and no one knows what the hell I'm talking about! THAT makes me feel old. It doesn't matter how *old* the games are, its how obscure. I remember playing a screensaver game called "killer crayon" on my dads 386. Then
Huh? There has to be more to it than that. When a novalith shell blasts the surface of a planet it doesn't "just" make the owning empire "forget" about 40% of its taxeable citizens. I guess the system is simply abstracted, but in a rather confusing way.
Im somewhat new to Sins and just now getting into the forums. Something I noticed is that the forums currently lack a place for suggestions. The General forum is meant for general game conversation, suggestions for the game do fit the bill but they tend to get drowned out by all the other topics in that category. Beta Feedback is used for discussing current and planned content, suggestions can fit here as well but its a far from ideal situation. Having a separate forum for ideas and s
When I first installed sins I kicked every graphic setting to maximum. My rig can handle it but it tended to bog down in supermassive battles like the late game ones you have around stars with 4+ fleets clashing. Anyway it was also taking up a lot of my ram, on a fresh boot my computer uses about 20%. After running then quitting sins with extras on max it would always use 14%. Why would this happen? It seems other memory heavy programs were backing off when sins was running, but it never hit
I want to taunt my enemies by linking my existence to a magic ring and throwing it in a river somewhere.
Swing and a miss! Its Ironclad who made Sins thought I'm sure both of them appreciate the praise.
