yes but disciples are the fastest, you can pull them away with good micro before they die.And sorry the first "disciples" should of said defence vessals. For some reason defence vessals seem to fair far better early game than the others, while sentinels are better later game.Oh and you aren't supposed to sit them infront of the lrms.. you're supposed to circle behind them. Flaks fire 360degrees, that's another reason why they're good vs lrms. LRMS turn slow and fire forward.

so have you gods of sins played out a game yet? I want to see some good LRM counter, RA counter, spam counter replays already
There's 2 replays already posted in this thread 1st one was HuntingX vs innociv http://rapidshare.com/files/97134038/1v1_inno.record.html This game was HuntinX showing innociv that well executed LRM rush can't be countered. Hell, innociv ALSO went mass LRMs which completely contradicts his point about them sucking. <
Antorak is the best cap imo if you heavily micro and are sure you can get it to lvl 5. I could link tons of replays where i've taken on forces 50% mines size(with similar mix of ships) by microing the antorak, and no, not against noobs.
I seem to recall wiping out most of your fleet when you came to attack my asteroid last game. I even chased you off your desert planet. Also, after I took your desert planet, HunterX had RA and I stopped microing altogether, except to pl
I never said RA isn't counterable, I said RA IS A COUNTER BUILD.
Correction: RA really isn't counterable once you really get it going. The only way to counter it is to prevent it altogether... not going to happen if the enemy is playing defensivly and you're scouting. Never blindly rush RA without knowing what the hell is going on on the other planets.
@innociv
Jynx, you weren't winning on your side. It was a stalemate with me pulling through towards the end.
I was winning at the point I attacked your desert planet. After that point, I fed all my cash, metal, and crystal to huntingX for the next while. As a result, that was the end of my assault. When I said winning, I meant up until that point. My goal wasn't to kill you myself. In fact, I was intending on turtling and feeding HuntingX money to get his dark ar
Also, mind you I fed him some cash, but not so much that I was crippled (as I was winning on my side, anyways). HuntingX had some nice neutral extractors, but again, that was a tradeoff for the damn useless volcanoes (which we both had)
We just finished the 2v2 game where we used RA Teams: Jinx & HuntinX vs. Princeoftheuniverse(innociv) & Tarin HuntingX will be posting the replay. Needless to say, we slaughtered them. This goes to prove that RA is game breaking even in small 2v2 maps.
There's times when a planet is DIRECTLY beneath another planet. I really really hate that as it makes it nearly impossible to click on anything in the lower planet's grav well.
Yeah, the AI is no challenge at all. However, come online and be a little patient... a game will show up. At this point, there's still a lot of people figuring how to play the game, but for the most part, you'll find a greater challenge online. Hosting can be a problem, follow Monk's guide - it explains which ports you need to open and various other pitfalls you may encounter, like making sure you disable upnp. Best of luck.
The thing is, you were going on and on about how LRM spam sucks. HunterX went LRM spam and you couldn't counter it. In fact, it looks like you tried to counter it with LRM's of your own. Weren't you praising flaks as the holy grail to stop LRM spams?Theres lots of factors you're missing.
Well the point is, he LRM spammed you. True, you made some mistakes, but if LRM spam "sucks" and was so easy to counter those mistakes would have been negligible in the big picture. The
well the biggest thing was that i gave up that feild and forgot to upgrade my asteroids infrastructure until late as you can see in the income at score at the end(was to focused on other things.)But it's the 2vs2 when you do your RA rush that's going to mean something
The thing is, you were going on and on about how LRM spam sucks.
HuntingX, go on the sins irc its easier to get a game going that way 40 Flak frigs(which cost less) than 40 LRMS will kill the lrms with just less than half a dozen ships if you micro them.If I have LRMs and you have flak, I will ignore your flak and kill your cap, then fly around and kill your other structures, meanwhile pumping out more ships. No you won't.
Right, because I'm a computer and can't actually pick my targets. /sarcasm
i'd like to clarify that someone who is 'good' at lrm rushing isn't necissarily good at the game, they just know how to micro and understand what ships to avoid and what order of ships to focus fire on... all of this knowledge can be gained from a 'trial and error' processi'd like to see mass LRMs (with a few cap ships of course) stand up against an advent fleet with 10 guardians, 15 subjucators, 40 aeria drone hosts, a dozen desciples, and a few cap ships
You kind of mis
I've never lost a 1v1.I don't think this game will be any different.
You did tie one though ^^
40 Flak frigs(which cost less) than 40 LRMS will kill the lrms with just less than half a dozen ships if you micro them.
If I have LRMs and you have flak, I will ignore your flak and kill your cap, then fly around and kill your other structures, meanwhile pumping out more ships. Flak doesn't kill lrms nearly as quickly as you think. You keep going on about flaks having 5 dps against light frigs. That's only if all arcs are firing. Unless your opponent surrounds your f
That's true, but we're discussing rush strategies. It's unlikely you'll face "100000000000 billion" flak ships during the rush stage.
You haven't played enough if you think flaks are only good against lrms and fighters.Even against light frigs, which counter them they do alright. Why? Because for almost the same cost they have double the hp/shields/armor and quadrupple the DPS.Comparing armor and damage types alone isn't enough. All the units don't cost 400/50/25 with 1k hull, 500 shields, and 5 dps.Killing lrms with flak doesn't leave you with unnessisary useless ships afterwards. It leaves you with ships that are a bit
I don't feel it really adds confusion, I target by highlighting over the side panel and seeing which units highlight to tell if there near my ships so I don't have to run to shoot at them. I never target seekers. They don't really hurt.
Don't forget that martyrdom is subject to shield mitigation. It ends up dealing very very little damage. I literally threw 15-20 seekers into a lvl 3 cap ship and it survived with well 50% hp.
LOL As much as you're trying to show your superiority by flat out saying the most imbalanced tech "sucks", you cannot be any more wrong on some of your points. Clearly you have been playing with/against noobs and haven't seen how devastating a properly executed RA rush can be, even on single star maps. This is doubly true when your opponents need to beat through your teammates before they can get to you. The Vasari ultimate tech is indeed Dark Armada. Once someone gets it go
That was me, Jinx, you played against. I saved the replay if anyone's interested (and can point me to where to upload it) If you watch the replay, right when you took the ice world, if you had continued your assault while blue was busy with pirates, you may have won the game since I was saving and teching for cap ships. Also, I don't think that I got the cap ships that quickly, it just felt so quick to you guys because you went econ first whereas I went cap ship -> military O
Yes, RA is completely imbalanced at the moment. I'm enjoying abusing it though. Currently I can get RA resarched about 30 minutes into a game and a fleet of over 1000 by the one hour mark. This is without help from other people. However, teching hard like this means I'm absolutely undefended during this time. It's quite a gamble. In roughly 1.5 hours, I have about 2000-2300 fleet. Once I get this, I really start researching ship upgrades, but it's usually GG by then, as the opp
What do you think of EA? They seem to release a lot of buggy games due to tight and non-negotiable release schedules, and treat their employees like crap, or so I have read.Edit: that was addressed to "Shadowofadoubt"
It depends on what team you're on. The people I work with are all quite nice. I sometimes get work that results in long hours, but the game industry is simply like that... although because EA is so strict with deadlines, I suppose it's slightly worse.
I'm not really against playing clans. I mean, they could simply remove the clan tag and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Besides, most of the clans I've seen are just friends in real life so their clan tag honestly means nothing. If they kick you butt, don't you think it may simply be a case of them being better than you and/or your team mates? The game's really slow paced so the advantage of talking over typing becomes greatly lessened. Also, if your team is noobish, te
yep, universe at war was created by former westwood employees. I'm not quite sure why Astax thinks it's so bad though. Each race plays completely and different from each other - A LOT more different than even Starcraft. If anything, Petroglyph Studios should be given huge kudos for attempting that (and the nightmarish balance issues than ensue). One race essentially comprises of a couple mobile bases which are uber strong and raze everything. You upgrade these as you get resources.
