I always liked the look. I am so sick and tired of "realistic" graphics in every game. As Borderlands demonstrated to me, sometimes artistic flair is far more engaging than photo-realism. I suspect this is doubly true when dealing with fantasy and sci-fi.

May I suggest Let the Galaxy Burn ? It is a collection of the best 40K short fiction and provides a good tour through the entire 40K universe. There are a ton of great stories in this omnibus and I highly recommend it. EDIT: Just saw how old the last post was. Oops! Anyway,

These quotes are from the recent GameShark interview: Let's move on to diplomacy. It seems like the particular beta I’m playing in (beta 4) - and I’m sure that it's improved - that diplomacy is bare bones… Oh it is. The diplomacy just got in. I write the AI for the game and the diplomacy was the part that I just really started getting into because I had to wait for a bunch of stuff. In the latest

That was a very good interview! I am glad that they tried to ask some different questions. I liked this: Let's move on to diplomacy. We have the first trailer posted here . It does sound interesting. I confess to never having played any of the originals (prior to Elemental, I never was a big fan of fantasy gaming), but this one seems like it could be a lot of fun. It also appears to be a PC-exclusive title, which is always a plus.

It sounds a bit like Left 4 Dead, a bit like Fort Zombie, and a bit like Nation Red. It either is going to be a forgettable bit of derivative trash, or a great combination of ideas. There's rarely a middle ground with games like this.

GameTrailers has an interesting dev vid from GC10: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/gc-10-the-sims/702957 I like the sword fighting. [e digicons]B)[/e]

That was a great read! I hope to write one of my own AARs shortly after getting this game. There's nothing better in the world of gaming than a game that gives a fan fic writer all the substance he needs to start his own novel. When Sins of a Solar Empire was released, Stardock came out with a special Sins MyColors desktop theme (I believe GalCiv had one too). Will MyColors have a theme for Elemental? [e digicons]:pout:[/e]

Definitely agree! Elemental is a game just filled to the bursting point with all the right elements (ahem) for fan fic writers to churn out pages and pages of material. The fellas over on the Sins of a Solar Empire have done so, along with the GalCiv guys (I've written some stuff for both, too!), and neither of those games have as much RPG potential as Elemental. Only the best games engage me with such strong immersion that I am compelled to chronicle my adventures. Kn

Ugh! These dev diaries are like Chinese water torture...it makes the waiting for the big day all the more difficult! [e digicons]X([/e] But thanks for doing them just the same. [e digicons][/e] Speaking about "random events"...I trust Elemental has them (I mean besides the random crashes)? [e digicons]:pout:[/e]

I love the achievement and nobility ideas! Both would definitely add more RPG-ness to the game. The civics I don't really care for. I don't want Elemental turning into Civ. But that's just me, so as long as it is an optional setting, sure.

The only big studio game that I am really looking forward to is Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Otherwise, I am mostly excited by a host of indie titles that are on the horizon. Best of all, it seems like a few of those are games that even older PCs should be able to run.

I recall that Egosoft held a contest for fans to produce a trailer for the X3TC 2.0 expansion. Perhaps Stadock should do that too (post-release, of course)? I like the new trailer, but it might be fun to have a trailer contest that could tie-in with the whole Elemental Army idea for points and prizes. BTW: Once the game is released, what will become of the Elemental Army? I would be cool if it continued to tie into the game in a metaverse fashion.
