America is unlikely to use nukes ever again. Nukes have a terrible reputation. If the President used nukes in war, he is sure to lose the next election. The American people would be outraged. Well, at least the democratic part of the population would. The Republicans... that's another pair of shoes...
Spoiler: A democrat signed off on dropping *both* of the atomic bombs used on civilian targets to date. kthxbye.

I remember playing a BASIC game called "42" when I was just a toddler... it had to be somewhere around '85-'86... That's definitely the oldest I can concretely remember :) -Gonzo

Ditch the E2200 for an E6600 or better. You can get a great Wolfdale [E8500?] core for a very reasonable price now. There is a difference beyond clock speeds with the low end versus high end core2 chips. I personally have an E6600 and can vouch for a stable [ie: left on for years] 50% overclock on air with a decent heatsink and case. The graphics card also has to go... NV8800 series or better / ATI equivalent. Those two properly configured and tuned will make a whole world of difference.

Pass on it... or wait for it to come way down in price for the following reasons: 1: $50 for a new game is BS, especially one as unfinished as this one 2: By the time it's say, $20, computer hardware will have increased significantly. 3: By the time it's say, $20, the game will hopefully be patched to playability Just my two cents, Im glad a buddy had a copy to evaluate... I would have been miffed if I had spent $50 on that game. Just a weak offe
Is there a way to quickly tell how many military labs/science labs that I have? And do you usually build them a couple at each planet until you get what you need, or one at a planet as you expand?
For the labs question you can mouse over the research icon at the top middle and it should give you an info card that tells you how many of each you have. As for building them, the rhyme and reason depends more on local conditions and expected tech requirements than a
Half arsed is right. The console port of Mass Effect was pretty good. The interface was certainly an improvement. Problem is something the newer Nvidia drivers just grabs the game by the spine and breaks it in 20 places. Neither Bioware nor Nvidia seem to be doing anything to fix the problem. And us people on Steam are still missing the DLC.

Even worse: games that run poorly on high-end systems (usually half-arsed consoles ports). GTA IV and Saints

Third expansion = third installation of story. When the 3rd expansion has netted you the first pieces of storyline- you -should- call it a complete fail [and why? There was so much good stuff in the documentation!]. The reason this game failed to captivate many is because they had no attachment to any particular race and/or unit, it doesen't really have starting conditions: same objective, different map. So go play multiplayer, you say? Well, check the technical forums on that... desynchs and

Why the sharp hit to FPS when you enable cinematic mode? Does the draw distance go way up or something? Every now and then I want to just watch things unfold with cinematic... without all the clutter icons... the hit makes it not worth doing. Suggestions? -gonzo

I think I may have finally one of the [many?] things that cause bugged recordings. It would seem that Colony frigates aren't recorded when they capture mineral / crystal resources in non-colonizeable areas [ie: gas giants, asteroid belt]. It would also seem their listed income rate is incorrect. It was easy to spot in a recorded game of mine since my early income was dependent almost entirely on these "free" resources, the recording of an "alternate timeline" begins approximately 20 minutes i

Alloy as well as the other method keeps telling me "IP is not visible"... I would assume this means it's taking my local 192.168.x.x as my internetwork address. Is there a place you can specify what address it takes?

1) No betas that require me to download stupid new software suites I have no intention of ever using. [I will note this isn't anything wrong with the game itself] 2)A unified version would also be peachy, so people can play and mod again [if they ever come back, don't know at this point]... 3) A campaign would have been mighty nice, especially considering the number of desync issues in large games. Also it gives the players a little bit of "why" behind each of the factions...

How about you just let it work like every other market? When you don't let the market work the way it wants to work, only those going against the grain get hurt in the end. [People] resell their games, and if you make it so they can't... they'll stop buying them.
