Indeed...what's nice this time around is that, by the time you guys get FE, it will be 100% feature complete (sans polish). No more "How should we implement this?" or "What about this feature?" discussions...you guys will have everything you need to pass gameplay judgement and suggest change

So you think people who play fantasy games have less imagination than people who play sci-fi? By my perception, it's more that people who play sci-fi are satisfied with less in terms of the things fantasy people prefer, if they are satiated with interesting tech and things like that, while magic and such systems would have to be totally revolutionary and unheard of to draw in Fantasy fans, who are more discerning when it comes to other aspects of the setting. I feel like they could have taken the time to just make a new sprite rather than reuse the tired old FF sprites I've seen a million times. Cave Story had nice sprites. I guess maybe it has to do with being older. I think the sprites are homage to FF, but I've never been into FF like that since I wasn't around when

[quote who="Derek Paxton" reply="32" id="2929877"] It's a legitimate risk. We are attempting to balance that by not having the random techs be to powerful. Things like Masterwork Shields, once researched, allows the player to make better quality shields for his units. But I don't imagine that people will be restarting because they feel like they need that. One of the diplomacy random techs makes a particular type of recruitable creature start at level 3 in
Yeah, this would be nice. It's not a huge thing, but its current implementation is much less efficient than it could be. Ankerous, neither I nor anyone I know have ever had a problem like that at our local store. I think you just happened to end up with a singularly poor store in your local area. That isn't something that should reflect on the corporation's online dealings, because the power structures are very different.
The plan with 1.1 betas was to roll over to aa (then ab, ac, etc, like a base 26 number, with the alphabet as numerals). I don't see why they would have changed this. It seems far more logical than delving into characters that are not easy to produce on most keyboards or needlessly complicating the system by adding another decimal.
It is simply not possible to mod it that much. You will have to not play it in the homes of people who consider such things to be evil even though it is just a game. I also think that there is a language problem here. It sounds like what you think when you read "magic" is actually what in English we would call "witchcraft". In English the word "magic" could mean witchcraft but it could also mean other things like healing and using power. Even things that come from god are called "magi
