The Campaign is worth it for the story, which unravels links as you go on. Like when Korath Spore weapon attacks a creature, the creature is converted into a 'crystal', killing it and the spore. Of course, the Korath don't know what to do with these so they just so they just destroy/dispose of them while occupying their spored worlds. In TA, it's been mentioned that the Dread Lords harness some kind of special 'crystal' that gives them the awesome power to build their 2000+ attack ships. See th

The 5th Entity - the 'demon' DL Bradley/Draginol keeps getting mentioned over and over and over again, as the destroyer of the universe, co-creator of the universe, time traveler, creator of the Altarians, cause for the Thalans coming, cause for the infinite loop of time, etc. etc. etc. Maybe GalCiv 3 will rotate around DL Bradley, the Thalans, the Mithrilar, and the 'pocket universe' that seem to be the underlying core of the Galciv backstory.
Can't answer your question, but I'm kind of surprised to see those man/monkeys seemingly in the lead. I picked the Yor since they were my original favorite from DL, but have shifted towards the Krynn in DA.
Ehm, the Terran Alliance is in the lead, not the Korath(they are those 'man/monkeys' right?). Yor is second, Drath is last.
I remember a moment when i had the Fundamentalist happen on one turn, Jagged Knife the next. Then Iconians of all the people decimated me with their pathetic ships, cause i lost my primary manufacturing worlds to those events. The Dread Lords popped up just before i ceased to exist too..
Fundamentalists + Jagged Knife = Hegemony of Minor Races. First a group of peace-lovers overthrow their evil rulers and establish an interstellar
I've been playing the game in one of its variations rabidly now for years, it seems. Never could be much bothered with the metaverse, but after reading many posts here on this forum I am curious about how people balance the two aspects of force: Brutal Jackboots (Military Victory) or Invidious Ermine Slippers (Influence or Diplomacy Victory)? I personally am a huge fan of the "slowly crushing my opponents under the weight of all those me
To replie to the first post : yes H-cars produce water ...but so do fossil fuel cars ( C8H18 + O2 => CO2 + H2O ) ( the white vapor when you start your car is water ) the idea behind hydrogen is that you produce it using “renewables”
CO2 is a greenhouse gas. If the H2O helps to cool the Earth, the CO2 is helping to heat it. And of course, that brings up the matter of trees. If there isn't enough space up in Alaska to
I don't know if you have seen windmill arrays, but when I have seen them in California (particularly in the Palm Springs area), they have been an eyesore. I would hate to see those things dotting places like Lake Tahoe, the Adirondacks, the Appalachians & the Smokies, etc.. Another good place I would like to see windmills are on all those off-shore oil rigs in the Gulf--I mean hello, like it gets hurricanes? I could see a windmill helping power the oil rig itself,
In 2008, Honda will begin leasing the first production hydrogen fuel cell car, the FCX Clarity. It is basically a Honda Civic with the internal combustion engine taken out and a hydrogen fuel cell put in place. They'll scale up production of the Clarity as more hydrogen fuel stations become available(which will happpen as other companies like Ford, GM and Toyota roll out there own fuel cell vehicles in due time). Once enough hydrogen stations pop up, they'll drop the lease program and begin sell
The 1.8f download still gives a 404 error and the 1.8d version isn't available since SDC is only showing the 'latest' version, 1.80e.098, which I have. So until either this link is fixed, or 1.80d is resurrected, I'm stuck with paralyzed fleets.
I clicked that link to download the 1.8f zip file and my Firefox 2 browser loaded a 'Page cannot be found' error page. Can you please re-upload this update? While using the fleet movement bug to instantaneously move ships across the galaxy was fun 2 or 3 times, it's a tedious and impractical bug exploitation that is not worth the loss of fleeting abilities. It's getting more and more irritating as 5000+ attack dreadnought fleets don't move to engage their enemies.
As far as i am aware the only way of getting hydrogen in a usable state is by making it from petrol... QTF. Hydrogen is NOT an energy source. It is an energy CARRIER, like a battery. Free hydrogen doesn't exist on this planet, it must be manufactured and the energy to do so must come from some other source. And of course the energy used in the making is more than the energy which you get
Looking at this first of all if I add 50 + 50 + 100 I get 200% bonus not 150% if I take 50% and 50% of that is 75% and 100% of that = 150% which is what I figure they do but, I don't understand why your bonus is cut short that way essentially loosing 50% but, if its uniform I guess it doesn't really matter. Introducing a custom Evil Super Organizer and a Neutral one will give you 3 targets to make other civs fight against for practice. The Evil one would be the greatest, since they'll rally the Drengin, Korath, Yor and Korx to fight for them. This could also happen if the Altarians get the ethics-reversal event and turn evil. Being a Super Organizer yourself would also(for obvious reasons) help in this case.
This extermination campaign was sparked off by the Vegans suddenly popping up on a Class 0 planet and stealing all my technology Oh i never looked at it that way before! This is balanced by the event where a Minor Race steals all techs of so-and-so AI Major R
Don't forget Krindar i'Agohl! He has Spore. That's better than even the Death Star, and more convenient.
The premade 'Core' ships in GC2, DA and TA are jokes which do nothing but take up memory. Every time I see a Core ship in my design list, I hit Obsolete. The only Core warships I've ever half-appreciated are the Defender, the Star Fury, and the Battleship, because the Dark Avatar Campaign forced me to use them(whose going to waste a free ship?). Tactically handling those poor contraptions on one hand while colonizing and developing my economy on the other hand proved rather fun, with m

Even if you are the no.1 civ, the Pirates STILL wreck ALL your starbases. It's impractical, at least on the Huge Rare-Stars/Planets/Habitable maps I play on, to keep a fleet of warships to defend every base. And the bases can neither defend themselves effectively nor run away, so they get destroyed. And while the Pirates and PKs are tailor-made for the galaxy, with massive miniaturization, supreme defenses, and swarms of ships, their weapons are middle tier and their hulls are small. If
Just upgraded my own computer - to a *slightly* higher GHz, but with four cores, more memory, and a new motherboard. Yeah, it does seem like the GHz stuff is starting to sizzle because of the thermal limits, but computers haven't stopped: Now it seems to be about how fast is the motherboard and memory, as well as how many cores. I think you're going to start to see 8, 16, 32, etc cores in the future rather than faster clock speeds - until they start hitting m
Hello everyone, I'm recently running into some problems in my games. I often find myself being powerful (top3 in military), however I find that everyone wants to goto war (and does)with me, and will not be persuaded otherwise. Example, I was playing on a large map, and I had 3 or 4 civ's declare war on me. I attempted to gift 15 planets to each of them for peace (just to see what it would take), and they would not take it. Short
These modules you only need 1 of per ship: Constructor Module(disposable) Spore Module(disposable) Mining Module(reusable) Survey Module(reusable) Even though the Survey Module does extend sensor range by 2, it's better to just better to research the cheap tech 'Sensors Mk.4' to give you a smaller, cheaper sensor module that does the same thing. Also, multiple Mining Modules will not reduce Construction Time at a rate faster than 1 wk per turn, but Mining Modules do
Time for some more easily-implemented suggestions, based off what exists: 1.Planetary invasions shouldn't take such a short time. Conquering a planet in one week is ridiculous. Based on your invasion tactic and the numbers of troops involved, the time should be set in an order like this, from longest to shortest: Information Warfare -> Traditional Warfare -> Gas Warfare -> Mini-Soldiers -> Core Detonation -> Tidal Disruption -> Mass Drivers -> Nano Swarm(the Yor spec
That would take so much time that the this victory would be the slowest one. The terror stars only move 1 square per week. Imagine having to destroy an immense abundant galaxy... Horror of horrors!
So you can just conquer all but 1 star system through invasion, building a Terror Star in the meantime, and blow the last star up. A conquest victory with the last of the alien scum finished off in style.
