Offense rolls 1-X where X is your offense score Defense rolls 1-Y where Y is your defense score Subtract the defense roll from the offense roll and you get damage. I missed the end turn button initially - it would be useful if it changed colour or sparkled once all the units had moved. Casting spells still escapes me - I couldn't work out how to summon a familiar or cast flatten land. The small spider is a different type and has a higher attack strength - not a particularly logical example for the walkthrough - c

Champions right now might be able to keep up with offense/defense using the very best gear but without HP to back it up, the randomness of the combat damage will most certainly kill them. I ran into some monsters with 28 attack and 10 or so defense, both of my champions had 60ish defense, nearly double the attack skill of the monster. Both of my champions died because they got hit for 12, something that wouldn't have even scratched the creatures dealing the damage. It t

Well, there are techs in the adventuring tree that will uncover more resources on the map, including gold mines. That might help with your income situation. Playing on a large map I was placed right next to an opposing faction so I haven't experienced that issue. I agree with most of your critiquing, I like the combat system itself, the stats driving it could use some tweaking though.
Are there actually any differences in units in different factions? Or is just a reskinned human? I notice one faction has death magic, but what does that mean?
The death worship tooltip says it grants +10hp to that faction. However I don't know what it applies that HP bonus to because units I make start at 5hp.

I'm using this system: AMD 940 Black Edition quad core 3.6ghz 8gb Corsair ram 4870x2 HD 2gb Vid Memory Xtreme Audigy Gamer Soundcard iirc I get atrocious performance once the second city goes up. If the cloth map weren't an option it would be borderline unplayable, even building city improvements can be a bit of a chore. My system isn't top of the line but it should definitely be enough to run elemental imo. I've yet to encounter another

I thought I was being completely fair and honest with my review and even linked "the gamer bill of rights" that stardock posted 2 years ago. There is nothing about this game that is even remotely fun and to rely on the player base to give this game any meaningful content is just a cardinal sin in my book.
Quoting Slainangel52, reply 44 Adventure research level is not the same as notable adventure level. The notable level raises via specific technologies in the tree, not the research level itself. All the adventuring levels (adventure, world and notable) are tied to specific techs. Not every adventure tech increases one of these levels. This is why it pays to actually read the tech window to see what something does befor

Prestige = how many people come to your city a turn (goblet icon in beta) Food = required for housing Housing = space for the people prestige brings in If you look at the city details there should be a bar that represents the population, if you mouse over it you'll get to see if you've got enough housing/food for the city to grow, or how short you are. Cities stopped at level 5 in the beta iirc

I've looked everywhere in the game for help on this and can't find anything at all. It's driving me crazy. It's the maximum level of sites you can investigate. If you hover over one on the map it'll give you the site level and your current adventure level. If the site is higher than your adventure

While I'm all for making the groups attack multiple times it's going to take a lot more than splitting the attacks to balance it. A few scenarios to consider. You've got a group of 10 guys with 10 attack fighting a dragon with 100 defense and 100 attack. The formula I keep seeing posted for combat is something like. Attack Roll - Defense Roll = damage if > 0 else "Miss" Currently you'd have 1-100 vs 1-100 In the new system you'd have 1-1
