I always end up playing like America before WW2. I'm peaceful and prospering, when some arsehole decides to attack me, then I start building military stuff. Because of my high production my military skyrockets and they start pleading for mercy, but I'm just not the type for that sorta thing.

stated in the hitchikers guide to the galaxy is this... "the most useful (and easy to carry) tool at a hitchhiker's arsenal is his towel." some hitchhikers have changed their towels to their specifications, but I prefer a plain towel. *watches kzinti warriors show up at the hitchhiker's headquarters* *jumps out of the window and attacks the kzinti* *kzinti flee in terror of my towel weapon!* hmm..
Secondly - When GalCiv has multiplayer, I want it to be GOOD multiplayer, not a tacked on system to appease the loud whiny minority.
I'm glad somebody put things into the right terms.

how about you specify for each round. like... "have two races on wary, and one race on freindly, with the rest on unknown" But to do this you'd have to chose what races are in the game manualy and I personally like to just hit (whatever # of races) and then put an "x" in the randomize races box. I'm a very choosy person.

Ah, so these multiplayer threads are still active. I think the main problem with multiplayer is that this is a TURN BASED STRATEGY GAME. It's easy to incorperate MP in an RTS game because each player's dicision is carried out immediatly after pushing the button. TBS carries out commands on a set time interval. in RTS, you can almost never issue a command at the exact same time as another player, and if you do, It normally wont matter because of how RTS works. In TBS, all the units move
This seems very political, and (as I know you will) feel free to say something to prove the wrong in my logic! this is political. but it is the other way around. for proof that we are not doing a whole lot i give you mars and pluto.
I thought we went over the mars and pluto problem on the global warming thread. (which seems to have dissappeared)

nice rant. I like it.
and additionally it would upset the corn market at all levels, which, in America at least, is a big deal,
I live in Ohio and corn happens to be our biggest crop, you can't go down any highway without seeing at least one corn feild, even though I live in the city, I would probably still feel the effect of the "All ethonal" approach.

and it seems that a lot of money is being put towards keeping energy woes and global warming from being solved. obviosly there is someone hiring all these scientists (because any REAL scientist would know better (I hope so...)) to say that there is no real problem... and who better than exxon, or a large number of gas companies who NEED the polluting gas substance to run their financial empire! This seems very political, and (as I know you will) feel free to say something to prove the w

kryo, the problem seems to have vanished! I think it was (and this really baffles me) that I wasn't saving often enough... the first time I played the problem showed up... now that I'm saving constantly in fear of a crash, the problem has dissappeared ( I'll post here again if it shows up again.
2)as you said before, pirates use speed then power then defense. A pirate fleet will not be able to take over a planet since there are very few pirates (in comparison to a normal transport ship population). Unless they use spores.
As I said, Pirates do not have super technology, just the simple stuff.
you could (partially) solve some electrical enery problems with solar panels.
denyasis. I said it could solve some of them not all of them.
i remember hearing that a solar cell runs at about 65% efficiency in cloudy weather of what it does in sunny weather (in the same location).
See? even in cloudy weather, they will still produce electricity. It can't solve all of our electric environmental needs, but it can put one h*l
You know what? Wouldn't this be better as a Gate Starbase?
I thought we already said "no stuff that prevents starbase usage for certain races" Remember? my supergun idea was rejected... but otherwise, placing a military starbase at your end is feasable, because it can't shoot so you'd have to have guard fleets there all the time.
Yes, maybe in the corner of the galaxy somewhere where you would have to get through sectors of sectors of asteroids. If we had wormholes they would have secret wormholes that they could get around the galaxy and fulfill their evil deeds. Maybe they could have wormhole stations set up around the galaxy. Since they would only have one planet or starsystem, their home planet/star would be heavily fortified. Maybe they could be paid conquer a planet and if they win they would give i

I think when a single ship is destroyed, it shouldn't make a ship graveyard, but if an entire fleet is wiped out plus a few ships destroyed from the other fleet, then, you have a ship graveyard. And if a graveyard shows up, you can get bonuses from it with a survey module on one of your ships.
a. A Precursor ship (I mean a real Precursor ship, organic and everything. A Dread Lord ship/A Arnor ship)
I doubt that the race that got blown up would have that kind

you could (partially) solve some electrical enery problems with solar panels. let me explain. I can think of at least three or four major deserts where solar powerplants could be built, Sahara, nevada, australia, etc.. With the desert being huge and since there's almost never any cloud cover, we could put alot of solar plants there and make a lot of energy from them. Plus if every house and car had at least one solar panel on them, they could recharge energy that they need, whi
