yeah the pirate event sucks. you have to turn off the mega events to get rid of it, which is a shame since the rest of the events are fun.

All that indicates is that, as I've been saying all along, the DL event badly needs a buff. The pirates are fine as is. The DL event is too weak yes, but the pirates are way too hard. A probability slider or a difficulty setting for the event itself could solve that people have very different opinions on this matter.

The pirates on the other hand has been far too powerful in the latest 2 games, outnumbering me with far too powerfull ships (i had, by far, the strongest millitary among the other races.) Maybe so but therein lies the challenge. The problem is that it's more pure annoyance than challange. I like the mega events, but not the pirates because its just a really boring and drawn-out "build up every frighter and starbase

I've had the dread lords happening to me twice, had no problem dealing with them even with a rather weak fleet. Killed them in 1 turn once, the second time i never even got to meet them, some other race killed them. The pirates on the other hand has been far too powerful in the latest 2 games, outnumbering me with far too powerfull ships (i had, by far, the strongest millitary among the other races.) The events seems very unbalanced, a little chaos is just fun, too much and it will ruin

My last two games has been ruined by these **** pirates. I had a fairly powerful fleet, much more powerful than any of the other civ's but then the pirates comes in, twice as powerful, killing off every ship/starbase i have. It's incredible boring to build up new constructors, frieghters and new battle fleet this far into the game imo. It destroys the flow too much while not really adding any fun (quite the opposite really since i just start a new game when/if this happens). It would'

Mystikmind: the Dual-SATA2 is a great board, that's the one i've had for years now, i bet you'll get a more recent revision even. Didnt know you still could buy them. here's a really great forum for AMD/asrock http://forums.ocworkbench.com/bbs/f-asrock-amd-boards--31.html/

Actually, if your current card is PCI it would probably still work, since new motherboards still have PCI slots. It is the AGP that can not be used, because both PCI-e and AGP are dedicated video busses and no boards will have both. Strange that i have such a board then (ASROCK dual-sata2).. It's like 2-3 years old but they have recent model(s) with AGP and PCI-E too.. really great motherboards and very cheap too.

[quote] I just destroy most/all enemy ships take a planet, offer a peace treaty and get another few planets through trade ---- That can't work. I've tried to get planets from other guys and the only way to get one is to give them like 8 other planets for it. Seems prety pointless! I think that depends on the difficulty level, if he plays at easiest difficulty with the most stupid AI + has good trade/diplomacy then i guess it can work hehe

I've only played 1 turn based strategy game before that i can think of, Caesar 3. I mostly play RPG's too. This game was/is a real pain if you're not used to turn based strategy, so i feel with you . I beat my first game (small map, 3 major, 2 minor races, beginner level) yesterday (i played at least 6 turns before that one but i never finished them cause they went really bad!). It took me sev

Looks like you were playing the Dread Lords camapign (newly available under DA now, it seems). Was this your intent (were you Terrans or Drengins in the first mission)? Some other users have reported playing the DA campaign but apparently getting moved to the DL campaign on the next mission. I'll get Cari for the map loading error. I played as Terrans (and my last save says its the Dread Lords campaign).. It wasnt really my intention,

Ah, thx nullspace, that solves it then. I should probably try to make my own ships, it seems fun. I looked at some of the screenshots on the forum, really inspiring work i must say.

when you select "upgrade" all the old parts will disapear automaticly (makes sense i guess since youre going to upgrade), at least for me, so it's not a problem and i dont have any old parts left at all. It's easy to see too, i check the list above the ship where you can see what parts are there. I guess it must be some bug i did install that hi-res texture pack, perhaps it messed with some setting

11 Replies 7,503 Views

no thats not the problem. I do it like this: First i select "Shipyard" There I select "Collony Ship" and "Upgrade" I get the the Collony Ship but without any modules etc, only the hull and "extras". I try to put on the exact same parts but choose the new engine instead of the old, but it'll tell me its to large. Im 100% sure i have selected the same parts except for the new engine which, ofcourse, is lighter than the old. It's a bug??

If i build my own ship it wont have as much space to put modules on compared to what a pre-built one has that you can buy. For example, if i make a new engine which is smaller than what the pre-built ship has it still wont fit on that template even though the rest is exactly the same. Am I geting a penality for building my own ships or what am i missing? Probably a stupid question but i've just started playing so <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" border=0 al
