I dont remember for sure which race had the string not found error but I noticed it again in the game I played yesterday. I started a new game and once again attacked my nearest rival. The Terrans in this case and I had 2 races join in the fight to save them. The Yor and that minor race the Akalians (sp). Both civs "honored their alliances" and once again none of the civs were allied or even had the alliance tech (it did not appear in the trade window). I'm pretty sure that I can d

Thanks for the quick responses. So the first is intended but perhaps the wrong text string was used. That's good. At least there isn't some galactic conspiracy against me. 2nd. My misunderstanding that fleets automatically protected starbases. Good, now I know and as we all have heard "knowing is half the battle". 3rd. I'll try check it again to see if I can duplicate the error. Although I'm not sure how many ships I have remaining. (The Terran declared war on me again a

I was playing my 2nd game of V1.4x and I thought since I haven't really been challenged recently I'd go for a completely new strategy, the "early rush". Playing as the Drengin I immediately grabbed 2 planets and began research and construction of military spacecraft. I decided to go after my closest enemy, the Thalens. I destroyed their research mining starbase and fully expected relations to drop from "neutral" to "at war" but I did not expect the Terrans to come to their aid especially not du

Actually Marc the post had more than just carriers. Although I agree that moral/influence modules on ships seems odd the idea of "components that will improve fleet combat" sounds good to me. The modules that are to be added could be a command center module that would increase the luck and/or the attack/defense of all ships in it's fleet. Another module could increase the logistics of the fleet by a small amount. There are a ton of possibilities and having a command ship would be an interest

Great ideas. Powerplants on ships would be a wonderful addition. I would think that you could even add two branches of techs to the tree, one that increases the power output, and one that decreased the size of the plant. On the fueling idea what if instead of ships being reduced to no movement they be allowed only 1 movement point so that they can limp back into friendly space, however no new ships could be launched until you had increased your fuel logistics. Really this

How about instead of a ship module or the player actively being the pirate there is an option in the diplomacy screen to hire pirates. These pirates can be targeted to prey on your enemies (or freinds) Perhaps even just a check box similar to the trade embargo that says "support piracy against X" where X would be the particular nation you want to target. The possible effects on your target of this could be: 1. Reduced trade income 2. Loss of some trade routes 3. Reducion of in

It makes no sense what-so-ever to have miniaturizaion EVER make a component bigger. Thats called "enlarging" and is not something that I want my scientists working on. The description of the tech states that you can put more components on a ship. If it doesn't (regardless of the reason) it should be modified. Fortunately I havent noticed this "problem" in any of my games. Although I have built a scout ship out of a cargo hull packed with sensors. So it may have affected me I just didnt notice.<

I have a few questions/suggestions. Well actually I have many but I'll keep it limited to the ship designer for now. 1. Is it possible in the ship designer screen to have functional components shown on a separate bar than the non-functional? 2. Is it possible to have a "invert colors" selection on the componets so that we can have the main hull color become the accent color for individual parts? 3. Can we have an option that mirrors a part over to the opposite side so that I only h

Thurlin, That doesn't make any sense. If you average a negative value then you have to end up with a lower amount of money than what you started with. The only way that could be the case is if the calculation doesn't take into account certain types of "income" (perhaps only tax income is counted) I've seen this too but decided that it would be too much work to figure out how it's calculated.
