Ep's 4, 5, and 6 (with the exception of the climactic teddy bear battle) accomplished what George wanted. Movies that simulated the old style saturday morning cartoons, or 1930's sci fi reels. Like Flash Gordon, and Buck Rogers. Ep's 1, 2, and 3 were too well... umm .... DISNEY! Don't get me started on whiney bitch "Manicen" (oh hell i forgot how to friggen spell it) Skywalker. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

Not saying that egosoft pulled off something sinister here, because egosoft has a very good reputation about supporting their products. They have a habit of releasing bug ridden games, Then fixing them almost to perfection afterwards. If anyone remembers the x3 reunion release. it was almost the same situation. It was bug ridden crap in the initial release, but after the patches (and 2 stand alone expansions) the game became quite enjoyable. The nefarious company's out there count
It has been known for a long time that there was going to be only one ship. If people read the forums, and previews in other words research the game before they buy. Then it might save you from "wasting your money".
Seems like you guys got all the bases covered. I will be interested to see how things turn out too. Good luck with your project :)
I can do that too with a level 1 breton... Of course i would be CHEATING with god mode left and right. :D
I will give you the benefit of the doubt about the models. I give blanket permissions to use models made by me. Basically anyone can use my work as long as i receive credit for that work. Many other authors like Rick Knox also use blanket permissions. I see, and recognize names on the credit list. So that seems pretty legit. I have done the same for SoA 2, and i also sought out, and received the blessings of many 3rd party model authors too. I see you guys are awaiting permissions as well. So
I actually had some free time to "play" yesterday! I am impressed with everything that has been done so far. It is obvious i left the project in very capable hands. I wish i could contribute something, but unfortunately i am still in the same rut, and just have zero time to do much of anything. I am lucky if i get to spend more than 15 minutes on a computer now lol.
I was kind of worried too. I have a slightly better spec laptop, but not many games support the intel graphics GPU's. Most games will run, but there is no guarantee on how well they will perform on an Intel GPU. I have been lucky so far, and all of my games work pretty good.
Wouldn't you want to protect your Art?
I am pretty disappointed about some things. If you go into this thinking its an "X game" you are in for a rude awakening. They should have made Rebirth into a totally new IP. My biggest bitch's right now are the total lack of a radar, and very sloppy combat mechanics. Correct me if i am wrong, but does your trade ships have to "follow" you in a group to work correctly? What happened to autonomous sector, and universe traders?? No matter. I believe ether 1) egosoft will fix this disaster,
Good job from the screens so far. The real test is to zoom closer until the image does start to pixelate. if they both do so about at the same time then job done. however i have a feeling the 2048 will do so a little further out than the 4096 would.
Major Stress approves ;)
That rant i posted was just an initial reaction after about an hour of play. I am not giving up on rebirth just yet. Egosoft is very good about fixing their stuff. They may also try to add what the community is asking. I got a few mods in her that give it some redeeming quality's (better highway alphas, shut up yisha, better cockpit FOV. debug menu.)
Problem with that project besides the plagiarism of other peoples work is the fact that Paramount will basically sue the crap out of them for using the Star Trek IP for Profit without acquiring the appropriate licenses (which cost MUCH more than $15,000). The reason Excaliber, and most other trek mods can do this is the fact that Excalibur, and other trek mods are NOT for Profit. As long as a disclaimer stating that fact is on a website, and in the read me's Paramount is cool with
If you can reduce the starbase textures (including the -da, and -nm maps) to 2048 res, and make the quality look like the original 4096's. Then that will be a feat in itself. The game hates odd sized textures that are not in a power of 2. Despite a few odd sized ones being in game. Sharpening will be very hard to do without pixelating the texture. This is just from my experience using photoshop. Not saying it cant be done. I personally just wouldnt know how to do it. You may know
I meant the 2 gig issue was fixed for the core game itself. Of course for mods it is a different story. People want to put even more eye candy in the game, but do not realize that they will hit the 2 gig brick wall if they over do it.
I believe someone is already doing this, and for free. Its called Star Trek: Excalibur This is the spiritual successor to BC
It is very obvious X Rebirth was intended for a console (xbox? PS3/4?) then a split second decision was made to scrap the idea. It took 7 years to develop this... SEVEN! and IMO this is nothing more than a half finished, half baked, wannabe arcade shooter. With all of the worst parts of an arcade shooter in it. Ummm... Is there any "Simulation" in this "Space Simulator"? because i fail to see it. Major Stress is NOT amused... Rebirth was not even supposed to be set in the X universe.
Like Fist0 said. If you want to incorporate your changes into TSOP you are more than welcome to do so. In fact i encourage it. Being that i am retired and all. The main reasons i converted the TGA's to DDS was that DDS is pretty much the gaming standard. To be able to use Mip Maps in the particle textures, and it saved a crap ton of in game memory, because the textures load into the GPU ram instead of system ram. I know TGA is a better quality format, but the benefits of DDS outwe
I have retired from the project a while ago so i really have no more say in the decision making process. However, My opinion is that Titans, and Trek don't mix. Sure you have seen the "ubership" of the week in the shows Like the Prometheus, Scimitar, Voyager (i would consider Voyager an "ubership" because of the impossible feats it pulled off). The thing is then SoA 2 would become a race to whoever builds the first "ubership" wins. Basically the same as Sins or Total Annihilation (if you
Its an i5 2450M cpu 2.5 gigs. 6 gigs ram, and an intel graphics 3000 gpu. DXDIAG says it is DX 11 so i assume it is DX 10/11 capable. which games use dx 11 anyway? I think many games still use DX 9 to this day. I know my laptop is kinda dated (for computer standards) I bought this last year, but i was hoping to get some extra mileage out of her before resorting to spending quite a bit of money i may not have to build a new gaming system. Though that day is coming. Just hoping it will
Yea, Yea, I know stupid question. I am just asking because i have a crappy i5 laptop with an intel graphics chip. It runs 64 bit windows 7, I am wondering if GC3 will run (even if its low settings) on my machine. If not i guess its time to build a new box.
GC2 since Dread Lords had default ship designs that unlocked once you researched the techs required. The ship designing aspect was one of my favorite things to do in GC2. Though as of TotA you can chose to let the AI "auto upgrade" your designs for you. I would hope that SD keeps this mechanic in GC3 (plus the option to auto upgrade). I couldn't say much on ways to improve upon it, because i cant really think of anything. Since i am all psyched about GC3 i am gonna play me
